Theme tune plays
*I couldn't believe it. He had risen from the dead* [Dexter is shocked. He stands and watches as Doaks climbs out of his grave] [Doaks groans] *How could this be? I.. have to kill him.. but that violates my code. He hasn't hurt anyone!* [Dexter backs away as Doaks approaches] *I guess this is.. the end* [Doaks bites Dexter] [CUT TO BLACK] -EPILOGUE- [Dexter and Doaks are both zombies. They are brothers in arms. The bite made Dexter share his dark passenger and so the two work together to rid the city of crime. They both raise Dexter's baby] [END] |

Used to be my favorite show. Still one of my fav's, but it is more misses than hits these days. The highs are still really, really great, but way too few and far between compared to the early seasons. So much "by the numbers" filler any more.
Reminds me of Sons of Anarchy in that way. |

I said the exact same thing after S5. GODDAMN PLASTIC SHEET
At this point I've given up on the show actually being any good but I'll keep watching just to see how far is too far for this show. It seems there isn't any hole in logic this show won't dive headfirst into. They need to just embrace the trashiness and go full on camp. S6 Spoilers. Deb finding out was something people have been saying for ages now and was one of the easier ways to twist the series around and they still fucked it up by having Deb accidentally walk in on him like a masturbating teenager. And the reason she's there in the first place? Because an incest fetishist therapist somehow convinces Deb she's in love love with Dexter and she has to tell him how she feels. Not because she's intuited it or been investigating it or something that would kind of make sense, you know like S5 before she encountered that GODDAMN PLASTIC SHEET. Although it wouldn't fit in with the modus operandi of the Miami Metro which is "Be as fucking horrible at your job as possible."

More news on casting for season 7 and some spoilers of their characters
Swedish born actress Katia Winter, best known for her role as Lutz’s seductress in last year’s Hunger Games-esque action thriller Arena, is joining Dexter‘s Season 7 cast in a recurring role, TVLine has learned exclusively. Winter, whose resume also includes a February 2012 guest stint on NCIS, will play a Russian stripper who works in a Miami club. She joins fellow Season 7 newbie Ray Stevenson (Rome), who was recently cast a high-ranking member of an Eastern European crime ring who arrives in Miami determined to learn who killed one of his associates, and TV vet Jason Gedrick as the owner of the club where Winter’s character works. http://tvline.com/2012/05/31/dexter-...nter-season-7/ Seems like they are going in a different direction for this one... |

Best ever ending for Dexter would be this:
Dexter's been caught, tried and sentenced to death. He's now on the electric chair. The executioner walks into the room wearing a black hood. He bends down and puts his head towards Dexter's. He pulls the hood up to reveal his face... "Surprise, motherfucker." Doakes then pulls the switch. Dexter screams, the scene cuts to black. An after-credits scene shows Lumen being ran over by a tractor.

Goddamn why the fuck can't they have a season of Dexter on the run, with the entire police force and FBI after him? Sure, it'd be like Prison Break Season 2 - but its gotta happen |

Well there is atleast 8 seasons of this show agreed to under contract, it still gets some of the highest if not the highest ratings on shotime, and the makers of the show have no qualms about making more money and keeping it running. So the only way it will end is if ratings tank or Michael C. Hall decides to end it. If something does end up being a final season it probably won't be announced until after the last season is aired so there probably will be no satisfying conclusion.

At least I still have Season 1. It's superb. I find it difficult to find any flaws with it - it flows great, it has a compelling story and villain, it's dark yet balances it with humour in a way that the series has failed to do so afterwards, and it possesses a 'dreamlike' quality that they never quite replicated in any season since. It's literally a 12 episode cat and mouse game between Dexter and the ITK, with the occasional 'motherfucker' thrown in courtesy of Doakes. And the amount of bullshit from laguerta and the rest of the team was relatively low compared to what came afterwards.
Season 2 was good, but lila was a fucktard, and Doakes shouldn't have died. Season 3 sucked APART FROM Miguel Prado, who was a fucking boss. Season 4 was superb...if you only watch the bits with Trinity and Dexter. Season 5 was utter, utter shit. Utterly unbearable in every single way. Season 6 started great (mos def was incredible), and surprisingly had a HUGE amount of potential when you-know-who was introduced as a vision. But obviously, because the production staff are fucking idiots, they screwed that up too. By the next episode, Dexter was back to normal. The rest of the season was crap. Not much hope for S7, but who knows. so far it seems like they're gonna play it safe again. I bet after the first episode, Deb will slip on a banana peel, hit her head and totally forget what she saw in Season 6. Yeah, that seems likely.

The perfect ending would be Dexter getting rid of his dark passenger and running away to a nice beach with a nice woman and his kid. That's a bit too perfect though. I'd be happy if Dexter ends up getting killed. S4 was amazing. Trinity was creepy and scary as hell. Loads of tense scenes and awesome cliffhangers. Some of the best TV I've seen. |

I think the writers of this show are horribly unhappy people (mostly because they have to write dexter). The thing is I don't think it would be all that difficult to write a halfway decent season at this point. His kills are stupid, the focus on making him in some way redeemable is sick, the brother sister love angle is wtf.

People give Dexter too hard on a time. Season 5 was bad, 6 was better but not great but it's not total garbage. The only time I was really disappointed last season was when Dexter turned evil and the teaser made it look so good, a really refreshing, new way to see Dexter and...they completely boned it up.

Deb stumbles, falls and hits her head. She either forgets it and/or thinks it's just a dream. I'm not expecting this show anymore to have the balls to keep this up for long and really shake up the series. Still gonna watch it (once that's possible here in Germany).

I think the new season will start like this:
Dexter: Deb ehhhmmm... This isn't what it looks like. Deb: Holy fucking franken fuck on a plate, you killed him, you murderer! Dexter: ...... Deb: But so am I Dun dun duuhhhh Shocking twist is that deb is also a cold blooded killer, then dexter and her will run around like mickley and mallorie on a killing spree, until they die of old age because they won't get caught because Miami metro are shit lol Jokery aside I'm canny pumped for the new season, the moment in the last episode had to happen at some point, even if it is a couple of seasons overdue lol, I'm looking forward to what they do next. |

At this point I'll probably watch S7 just to see how it ends, but TBH I'm kinda pissed the original showrunners aren't the ones handling the huge Deb reveal which has been teased since season 1 - instead it's the undeserving hacks from the last two seasons.
But really, the more I think about it, the more I agree AVclub's sentiment - was Dexter ever a good show? Or was the premise so good that we just ate whatever shit they shovelled in front of us? |
