Your favorite biopic? #1

I just watched Private Parts for the first time since it came out, and it really is a fantastic movie. It's really a unique case too, how many films of someone's life have been acted by the actual person, not to mention actually turning out to be one of the best movies of the decade instead of some terrible project?

This one reminded me of how much I love American Splendor, the straightforward, effacing sense of humor and brilliant acting in both of them. Also really liked The Social Network recently, so expertly done.

You guys have a list of your favorite biopics? I'd love to check out ones I've never heard of.

Yeah I know, because there's a lot of biopics that are so much better than that crap (aside from Hardy's great performance)

Goodfellas (da best and my personal favorite)
Raging Bull
Lawrence of Arabia
The Pianist
The Aviator
Schindler's List
Elephant Man
Ed Wood
Some parts of Ali (opening montage, final fight with Foreman)

this short clip i think sums it up pretty well. the narration is from his diary. that's written in three or four different points of view.

Now Bronson I love, but I see it more as a fever dream kind of biopic, not exactly grounded in a reality but made because its just a great piece of cine.

Most of Milos Forman's best movies are biopics (not necessarily accurate though.) Amadeus (my favorite movie,) People vs. Larry Flynt, and Man on the Moon. Also, Ed Wood, Immortal Beloved and Shine.

Yeah, Man on the Moon, Ed Wood, Larry Flynt are the kind of flicks I was looking for equals to. Those are fantastic, and feel very unpretentious, I guess?

My favorite though? Walk the Line. Wait, does Catch Me If You Can count?

Truth be told though, I will watch pretty much any biopic. Love them.

Edit: OP is right, Private Parts is really good and really well done. I highly enjoy it.

Pirates of Silicon Valley.

Noah Wyle was excellent as Steve Jobs. How Steve went from being a man fighting against the machine to the machine itself, and how his arrogance blinded him into thinking he had nothing to lose. They covered pretty much all of the important people and moments in an hour and a half. And best of all, it was actually an entertaining movie.

There's really no excuse for not watching it (the entire movie is on Youtube).

I usually don't like biopics, because they tend to be too Oscar-baity for me. But Man on the Moon was surprisingly good.

Walk the Line and Capote are two of my favorites, though I don't know if I'd necessarily consider Capote a biopic.

While not the best, and I have a hard time calling anything by Oliver Stone a biopic, I would like to mention The Doors

I thought Val Kilmer was really good here, and the movie is fun.
