It's not the game itself but the copious amount of DLC and lack of content. Unless Namco added a bunch of stuff that I didn't realize, the game always seemed like a cash grab to me even at the retail price of 30 bucks. I'm sure the game plays fine though as far as the racing goes.

While I agree that the business model sucks the big one, Namco ameliorated the situation by giving away the first batch of DLC free. I paid 25 bucks for it, and it's my most played Vita game (and much more the 3DS version which I shelled out more money for).

So once they add two more DLC packs, assuming they are 3 tracks at $6, that's 15 tracks, frontwards and backwards, at $43. It's not nearly the "cash grab" that people make it out to be.


The biggest legit knock on the game is the lack of a career mode. It's more about racing for teams and leveling yourself up. Personally I think the level grind works really well for a portable racer - I love it. But for some the lack of a career mode killed the game. That I can't argue against... if that bugs ya there's nothing in the DLC that will change that.

I got it for 13€ and I'm really happy with this game (bought the silver pack dlc, the gold pack was included with the game).

This DLC is a great idea, love both Daytona and Ridge Racer. But I'd improve the poly count and I'd include the Sonic circuit.
