Obviously with Favreau being a producer on both The Avengers and Iron Man 3 and returning to his role as Happy, he and Marvel have somewhat mended their fences. Plus Downey's talked about coming back for more movies after Iron Man 3. They've been slowly building Iron Man 3, so it appears they're letting Shane Black and Downey do their own thing.

That is the one thing I liked about Iron Man 2. If they didn't have the whole shitty Avengers sub plot and let Jon do his thing it would have been an awesome movie. Iron Man was awesome because he had some sort of say in it. I remember reading he wanted to do the whole Tony Start dunk problem. Not sure how true it is or not.

I'm always suprised by the hate for iron man 2, it's almost the same damn movie as the first except this time the villian is more developed. Also sam rockwell is great as justin hammer. I suppose by nature of being almost the same it's going to be a little worse for the wear but it's like comparing a stunning gold trophy to a nicely polished silver trophy, both are nice and shiny! I look forward to whatever form Iron man 3 takes.

well it was, but the terrorist guys collected all the parts and attempted to rebuild it. then Obadiah kills all the terrorist dudes and takes the suit. you see the suit in the arc reactor building, and pepper asks if this is the suit Obadiah built. but Stane used the old suit to make iron monger. I'm guessing tony took it back after defeating Stane. you can also see the suit in the case in iron man 2.

hm I guess you're right. Some of the suits, (like that suitcase one) also got pretty destroyed during battles, but here it is, like new.

About the "Not another evil Iron Man" thing:
A major theme in Iron Man comics and the movies so far has been Stark needing to stay ahead technologically. It's an arms race, a nuclear deterrent. He says in Iron Man 2 "I have successfully privatized world peace" because other countries don't want to piss off the guy with the most powerful weapon on the planet. Iron Man 2 showed Vanko with the same tech working in drones, the War Machine armor, and his own suit, and I think Iron Man 3 is going to play a lot with the theme of even more people gaining the Iron Man tech (which would then explain the need for him to upgrade with Extremis). I guess it makes for less interesting villains on camera in a traditional superhero movie sense, but I what makes Iron Man so special as a film franchise is it's atypical of most comic movies. |

True. We already have Iron Patriot (confirmed), and possibly Extremis story elements, and Mandarin. I am worried about this suffering from Spider Man 3 syndrome. Too many cooks in the kitchen, and everything gets short changed.

Spiderman 3 tried to mix random unrelated elements together. IM3 stuff seems fairly connected. |
