Spider-Man is getting a 15 year old sidekick, alpha, in which Parker's lab experiment at Horizon gives the kid super powers while on a field trip. He then takes him under his spidey-wing to teach him responsibility. He will be the Alpha teaser dude from the anniversary 692 issue.

But I liked the preview well enough, and Dan Slott has built up enough trust for me to go along with this and see where it goes. |

Ultimates & Manhattan Project were both really good, Wolverine & X-Men is suffering from being tied in to AvX, Spider-Men, Supreme & Hit-Girl are completely unnecessary. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen 2009 will probably be the last Alan Moore book I ever read.
Before Watchmen : Nite Owl - 2 Hurms out of 10. Looks pretty but not very well written. Oh Yeah, Batman Inc. was also great!

So, new League. For a comic that features a giant Harry Potter killing a guy with a lightning bolt shot from his flaccid dick, it was okay. There's the kind of nauseating "everything was better back in the old day" undercurrent that's been driving a lot of Moore's thoughts lately, but it was still a good read.

![]() It's an overused gif but i never get tired of it :O I'd definitely get Saga, Danger Club, Fatale, and Mind the Gap. Wouldn't hurt to check out Hell Yeah, Mudman, Manhattan Projects, Secret, or Peter Panzerfaust.

I don't understand how theres a way back for WatXM. It seems so totally south of FUBAR, theres now fundamental trust issues between any of Logan's faculty that isn't Kitty (I think?) or Hank. 8 issues is all we got before the fucking, not even a full year of monthlies :/
Maybe there'll be an event mind-wipe, I dunno, but for a new series that had so much energy and excitement attached, big ol fucking retcons required already is a crying shame. |

I'm just going to say it, Saga is good but not great. Nothing besides the art has impressed me so far. It's just being weird for weirdness sake. I'm gonna sub to this shit till the end, though but I'll say it's the weakest of the new Image series I picked up this year.
Sucks to hear that WaTXM sucked this week, was going to jump back on it. |

Haha yeah I'm a sucker for the .99 sales so I will probably end up trying most of them. Still working my way through all the cheap Atomic Robo goodness I bought last week. Thanks to you and xtrasauce for the recs!

I think only Uncanny and New Avengers benefited from this Event. Everything else feels broken to me.

I'm not going to pretend to FULLY understand every detail of Action Comics #9, but i think i got the overall point and i liked it a lot.
Yet reading this issue reaffirms my complete letdown with the "new 52", which wasn't really new at all, nor worthwhile of a relaunch. The previous two issues, the refighting of Braniac for the 30th time in a similarly dull manner just shows how badly we needed a large revamp if we were going to get a revamp at all. I wish Action Comics #9 was Action Comics #1 and that this was superman's continuity. I don't know if i can go back to boring. What looks more interesting: ![]() or

The eventually cross over but you don't need to grab it. that said, it's the same cosmological mythos, and Swamp Thing is excellent, so it can't hurt.

I would say that you don't need to read Swamp Thing, but if you "really like" Animal Man you should check out ST. It's so good, and has a similar vibe while being different enough to stand on its own.

As of this time the crossover still hasn't really happened in single issues yet, either. So up to this point, no. Eventually maybe? With all the series that have crossovers, the new 52 has been good about inserting issues in multiple trades to save people crossover related headaches. For example, red lantern and stormwatch trades are both gonna feature all the crossover issues in each of their trades so you only have to buy one of them if you geniunely don't give a fuck about the other book but want to read everything involving your book's characters. They might do the same for animal man and swamp thing.

Swamp thing is still definitely the same middle-ground between horror story and superhero story as animal man.

This is more a complaint about the entire League series, but I never liked how Moore would never just let a lot of characters die or fade out of the spotlight. You've got The Blazing World and just about every fictional character ever in there, and I kind of understand why he made Alan and Mina immortal so that they can be the POV characters throughout all of the stories, but I would have much preferred entirely new groups of characters. Throw in an actual immortal character like Orlando to reference the old League stories and compare the new world with the old, and that's all you need. The Hogwarts Express scene, with the remains of the children melting into the train and the platform, was pretty chilling. I wonder who that professor who stood up to Harry and basically said "I never liked you, fucking kill me" was supposed to be. Couldn't be Snape -- didn't look anything like him and he'd be dead by that point anyway. |

Bane was better.

The first 4 issues were everything super hero comics could / should be. The last act just completely fell apart. |
