Seems like every large OHC i buy has some type of defect/damage. Hellboy Library edition vol 3 had the last three pages in the back dented, and i got my Buffy vol 1 OHC today from dcbs and two pages in the back with the extra art have small tears at the top of the page.
I think there is some ocd-hating gnome who packages comics and just rips/damages a couple pages on every book i buy just to spite me. |

OK at least someone here is reading Morning Glories. It's so good, but
When people die, they.... time travel? Or something? Jade killed herself and woke up at a later time in her life. Is that why Zoe tried to kill Hunter? Or is she just on the other side of this MGA vs. Arabaham war in relation to Hunter? Hunter has a problem with time - he can't read clocks, he's perpetually late, etc. His mom knows he's "special" somehow despite all his "averageness." I have no idea what's goin' on. |

got my dcbs shipment, first books i read to get caught up:
Avengers vs X-Men #3 and 4. I think the writing "team" made a competition out of who could waste the most amount of panels in an issue. Well congrats, whoever actually takes credit for issue #4 wins! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy they got my $2.39, congrats! This isn't a big spoiler or anything but a minor happening: Hope has a gadget that splits her location signal or whatever into 5 different places, so you get to see the Avengers and X-Men go to five locations to waste their time looking for Hope while WE get our money wasted too! SEE, IT"S DEEP AND EVERYTHING! In conclusion, Marvel won and got my money :( Walking Dead #97-98: Still like it, not great, but always at the top of my reading list when shipments arrive. Kirkman is trying to ratchet up the tension, and while i enjoy what's going on, it feels kind of flat. Ultimate X-Men #11-12: Bailing out. I'll continue to read Ultimates a bit to see what Humphries can do but at this point i don't care about the Ultimate Universe AT ALL, and if Ultimates requires me to read the other two books i'll drop that too. There is a fairly large scale event taking place here but it's done in a way that diminishes its importance, it's just characters matter-of-fact talking about things instead of any dramatic impact when it happens. Sadly i already pre-ordered issues 13 and 14, so i'll see what Wood does when he comes on, but that's it.

I'm just about to read it.
I was a bit flabergasted when this brah cancelled. I couldn't believe that was the breaking point for him and somehow all comics had become "tainted." GI Combat had a great issue. The art "In the War Time Forgot" was incredible and "The Unknown Soldier" really improved in the story department. Totally worth the four dollars. Edit:Harbringer was a really good opening character issue, but light on action. The thoughts Peter could read were hilarious.

And i wasn't being serious about dropping all comics of course and i'm still going to give Earth 2 a few more issues to see what Robinson can do, but the first issue left me sort of mixed in general and i'm skeptical. About the Earth 2 #2 "controversey" I'm fine ( as if anyone cares whether or not i will read a book with gay characters) with Alan being gay but the panel work in those preview pages looks like it was done purposely for excess media attention and not for good storytelling/character moments. Then again i'm completely cynical... |

i picked up "The Ravagers from the pages of Teen Titans" because i noticed Caitlin Fairchild was on the cover. it seems that she is going to once again lead a team of punk kids. She is assigned to study experimentation on young humans and turning them into monsters andstuff. but her plan was to actually help them escape the lab.
the book is all action. Caitlin's powers used to be super strength but i guess now they are power ups into levels of strength. ill probably pick up the next issue. |

If you haven't read Buffy Season Eight, the oversized hardcover is a really good value. It's giant, about Absolute sized, with thick paper stock and a book marker ribbon....and it's only 29.99 msrp! In the world of OHC, that's a steal for these kind of production values.
On the downside, the ending two arcs of Buffy are not good, yet the first 4 or so are good. So.....recommended? |

sometimes you're just not in the mood, especially when you get going on a long continuous story, thinking about reading monthly stories that are segmented stories just seem lame

Wow, some of Robinson's writing is PAINFUL in Earth 2-- the dialogue between Jay and Mercury-- oy. He is a lucky mofo to have Nicola Scott propping up his work. That said, despite the clunky lines, I kind of like where the book is going. Fun to see the Wildcat Easter egg and as for Alan Scott I like him as the hunky philanthropist and whoever called the train thing, kudos. I'm sure that means his boyfriend is dead, but no biggie; Alan needs a reason. And this opens him up to superpowered love interests down the road :)

Doktor Sleepless TPB: Got 30 or so pages in and had to quit, didn't grab me at all.
Secret Avengers #27: It started off as a soulless fight book but managed to keep things interesting later on. Smallville #1: Decent, but I don't think i'll continue with it. I always wanted to like the show, but i mostly disliked it and hoped the comic would improve, but there are already better superhero comics out there whereas I had to "settle" for Smallville on tv. |

Dark Horse has their own app (gross) but the BPRD and Hellboy comics are hands down the best being published today.

This may be the wrong thread but can anyone recommend me any bigger collections/omnibus books? I read X-Men, Batman, stuff like that growing up but I'm willing to try anything I just don't know which series are better. Do most of them have enough of them in order that you can read through the story arcs pretty well? Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Astonishing X-Men Omnibus by Whedon/Cassady is still easy to find and a great read.
It really eased itself into the story and the art probably won't be for everyone, but i'm glad i gave it a shot and everyone else should too. Yeahhhhhhh! I feel bad reading Kindt's message to readers at the end how he hoped to make the book to get people like himself, who like reading trades and not singles, to buy this book monthly. He does a good job providing quality content and an issue, but.....i still want to read the trade instead. Comics just don't read well monthly, almost NONE of the books i read do i say " this was great, i don't mind waiting a month to get another issue!"

It's the same as the 4 whedon Astonishing trades, that story is also collected in two oversized hardcovers.

Alright, thanks. It's frustrating how many they reprint like that, it just makes it more confusing. Especially when there is a small difference like 50 pages, I'm not sure if they're they same or not.
