i have never finished ff5, tried to play it a few times but never get round to finishing,
mainly because i get frustrated with the difficulty, but what the heck, i'm gonna register, even if the game becomes hell, sounds like a really cool idea, if not at all ideal, haha |

I usually do it for awhile for a bit of money, but most people will get more than enough AP to max out all their jobs by the end of world 2.
If you get Red Mage though you might as well do it there anyways, especially if you have no other magic to pair it with. |

When you get your second job your party must be some combination of the two jobs and you need at least one member of both jobs. Continue like that until you have a full party with four different jobs. Characters can switch between jobs of course but you need to make sure that everyone has a different job when you actually go adventuring! |

How prevalent are fake GBA cartridges on Ebay/Amazon/the like? Don't want to get burned with some fake knock off shit.
Borrowed the cartridge from a friend of my brother for last year and again I'd rather play it on a handheld instead of my tv/computer monitor like I would if I used my PS1 copy of the game since my PSP is all but dead :( |

Actually just starting with white mage/white mage is going to be interesting.
How are you going to kill the fire hand thing? How about Byblos if you get another white mage or you get a fire class thats doesn't appear until you get the black chocobo. I've done a white mage/white mage/white mage/white mage so I know how to beat them but boy oh boy you won't enjoy how I beat them. |

Didn't actually play it until last year's fiesta though, and I finished it. I had a damn awesome party (Blue Mage, Summoner, Bard, Dancer) which definitely helped for a first run through the game, so maybe you'll get lucky too. Fully expect to get screwed pretty hard this year since I got so lucky last year. |

My parties the last two years have both been damn awesome.
2010 was Black Mage, Summoner, Geomancer, Dancer. Everybody had Summon. Which made the party virtually invincible for most of the second half of the game. 2011 was Monk, Mystic Knight, Ranger, Dragoon. Spellblade + Rapid Fire = so good. |

Every year I see this but always fail to join in since I haven't played V yet. But with Square refusal to remake V and my lack of motivation otherwise, perhaps I should join in anyways this year! Would finally motivate me to play it at least.
whats the best version of V outside of the GBA one? Somewhat pessimistic on my chances to find a legit copy of it these days. |

Your only legit options in English are, I believe, GBA and Playstation (which I'm pretty sure is also on PSN). The Playstation version is pretty terrible, though. Poor translation, technical issues, just all around inferior package. GBA version is the definitive version of the game.
Inferior FFV is better than no FFV, though. |

I can't decide which version I am going to be playing. I have access to all versions, but I think I might just end up going with PS1 version on PS3. It looks nice on my TV and is a larger screen than the GBA version. Sure I have to deal with Y-Burns and horrible pirate talk from Faris but it's the most comfortable way for me to play it now.

If this maths is correct for Berserker (or other Water Crystal Jobs) in hard mode:
None > (10/11*15/16*19/20) = ~81% 1 > (1/11*15/16*19/20)+(10/11*1/16*19/20)+(10/11*15/16*1/20) = ~17% 2 > (1/11*15/16*1/20)+(1/11*1/16*19/20)+(10/11*1/16*1/20) = ~1% 3 > (1/11*1/16*1/20) = ~0.03% Total ~100% In Normal mode its 80% none, 20% one. So you're more likely to get one in normal mode but no likelihood of getting more. |

I want to say for those put off by the challenge, first time I completed FF V was last year during the fiesta.
I will admit, I had good jobs though........so all I can really say is, don't be put off when you get thief/white mage, continue the game and it will get better with the following jobs. Don't hold me responsible for your misery if you get berserker after that though |

I suggested that if RK wanted to make Hard Mode have more Berserker, he should just roll a D20 at every Crystal and make every slot not filled with an actual job be Berserker. Which would give you 1 - (10/20 * 15/20 * 19/20) = 64% chance of getting a Berserker ;) |

It's not very good times. There's one boss in particular that counters with deadly death if you attack the wrong thing, and berserkers make that fight really irritating. |

I noticed that when I was looking for my job analysis post.
I was reading a few posts of mine before it and went hey, this is remarkably similar to what Boney said! The only change I'd make to it is this, though this is more like a slightly harder hard mode. 1. You always get a Wind Crystal Job. (I like this so it stays) 2. Every other job, however, is a random job from any crystal, whether you have the crystal or not. If its from a crystal you don't have, you don't get it until you get it. So if you start with White Mage and get Dragoon as your second hard mode job, you have four white mages until the next time a job roll comes up! 3. Optionally you could add the mime in for more hilarity, not that it is especially hard to get with any party. |

I think if the account is private you both have to follow otherwise, last year I did not follow @FF5ForFutures and it worked fine (it followed my upon victory...my first follower  and only today have I done the right thing and followed it back...)

In the game of love there are some sacrifices.
You are being followed by Gilgabot now, by the way. Well, if you are the guy with the bub and bob avatar. Try registering again. I just got the email that the event is approved to show up on the Child's Play schedule. Exciting! |
