My 3DS is out for repair, so I'll need some help this week...
Can anyone tell me: 1) Exactly what demos and video clips were released as DOWNLOADS on the 3DS eShop this week? (Not streams, just downloadable stuff.) 2) WHEN any of these were released? I thought some videos/demos were released for download on the 5th or 6th. I want to add them to the spreadsheet... (North American eShop only, though.) |

For some reason, there appears to be a coin discrepancy between the original sheet and my new one. I need to figure out where it's coming from. I found a missing game that I added at one point (Personal Trainer: Math), but the coin count should otherwise be the same on both sheets for the "original" values... |

It's enraging how little attention they give new Virtual Console releases.
Wonder Boy in Monster Land and Monster World IV should have been made out as a big deal, in particular (being their first time in English). |

Last Blade is getting downloaded.
Wish we get the second one with the quickness. Any chance SNK will actually put Samurai Shodown V & VI and Fatal Fury Garou Mark of the Wolvies on the VC? Also you guys should still be supproting the VC releases on Wii if we want to have any hope of the service "flourishing" on Wii. Never heard of Monster World IV in my life but I downloaded it just to reward Sega for putting a little effort into getting it translated. |

Last Blade worth it? I've been waiting for a chance to buy Last Blade 2 for a while but never got around to it. How does the first game compare? Are these games even available anywhere else other than retail Neo Geo. I know LB2 came out on Dremacast in the US but is that it?

http://art-of-balance.shinen.com/gallery.php You could always ask Shinen directly if you need them for a review or something. I am sure they would welcome the exposure. I would recommend it but I would also recommend that people try the Wiiware demo of the original game first if they are not sure about the game. |

Sorry, I don't have any screenshots to offer, but I heartily recommend this game, and at least equally so its WiiWare original.

So, I've played a good amount of Art of Balance TOUCH! (all of World A and most of World B), and I'm already starting to regret my purchase. The gameplay is great and all, but I can't help but notice the lack of polish. I had always heard that Shin'en was a great WiiWare developer, and Art of Balance on Wii was one of the top rated WiiWare games, and that's what made me pick up Art of Balance TOUCH! But while the game is pretty good, it really feels like the developers were lazy and didn't care about polish. I've already ran into a few graphical glitches, and one glitch that even forced me to close the game. There are parts where the 3D effect isn't utilized properly, resulting in weird illusions that hurt your eyes to look at (for example, if you drag a block towards the bottom of the screen below the water).
To be fair, when the 3D effect isn't broken, the visuals do look really nice (except the water, which doesn't really look like water at all...), and the music is nice and calming, and quite catchy, but I think the game still needed a bit of work. The thing I hate most in a video game is a lack of polish, so I'm always very careful about which third party games I purchase. Sorry, but Shin'en could do better. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Nintendo's extremely polished offerings. That said, I don't want anyone to take this the wrong way. I think the game's great, and for people who don't care about polish (which there must be a lot of, since many unpolished third party games sell very well), the gameplay is really fun and relaxing. Just don't expect Nintendo-level polish.

I had the game freeze on me too but the 3DS re-booted itself automatically. It's alive!!! :o I would recommend switching the camera to the second [non default] option which zooms it out slightly and has resolved the vast majority of my camera issues. Also, if you select a block and then change your mind and wish to return it, I have found it is easier to move it over an existing block that has been placed so that it turns red and take the stylus off the screen. The game will then replace the block for you. I have found this much easier than contorting my fingers to press b or try and move it to the bottom of the screen, which is not always easy due to the camera. I would also recommend turning down the 3D. I normally play all 3DS games with the 3D slider at 100% but this game isn't comfortable for me at that setting. However, I'm fine if I reduce it so that there is some 3D but not enough to be a distraction. Hope this helps. Of course we may get a patch/update for the game in due course.

Oh, Shantae. I know how this will go for me.
"Well, I didn't like it before, but maybe I'll like it this time?" *buys* "Ugh, nope." See also, "I haven't liked any of WayForwards other games, but maybe I'll like Lit/Mighty Flip Champs/Bloodrayne." "Ugh, nope." |

Considering the original release never left the US and it took four months for Risky's Revenge to launch outside America (and that it missed Australia and New Zealand when it did), that's a pretty funny joke you're pulling. If it releases anywhere, it's going to be America first and foremost.
But hey, Wario Land right? |

Heads-up PAL landers: the annoyingly-missing E3 trailer section is finally up on the store. Unfortunately none of the game trailers found on the NA store are there, just Marvel Pinball (Zen Studios), All-access E3, and the pre-E3 Nintendo Direct videos. Oh well, rejoice!

I don't know why it's so important to me, but it is. I define a lack of polish as a game feeling "cheap", in a bad way. Art of Balance TOUCH! definitely has that "cheap" feeling in quite a few areas, especially the menus. Anyway, I'm probably nitpicking too much. I'm enjoying the game, and the graphical glitches aren't really getting in the way of gameplay for me. I probably sound like an ass when I complain about the littlest things like this, but I'm just wanted to see if there's anyone else out there who agrees with me. I'm not saying that the game is bad or anything, it just doesn't have the level of polish that I was expecting. Also, I tried the other camera option once, but I didn't really like it. I'll have to try it again to see if it's any better. Thanks. |

I much prefer the second camera option. The sink sticking out of the screen really bothered me. Especially when the green lights appear. It's a fun game, and worth your monies, but the lack of polish is blatant.
Has no-one else experienced the zooming issue though? That shit is lame. |

Art of Balance Touch has a huge graphics flaw that annoys me to no end: the water reflection isn't 3D.
In 2D, it does looks like reflective water but as soon as you turn 3D on the water turns into a waving cloth with a "reflection" painted on it. It's noticeable in both the screenshots and in the eShop trailer. It's obvious they render the reflection once and re-use it for both the left and right stereo images which is wrong since reflections are supposed to change with the viewpoint. I cannot believe Shin'en, as technically talented as they are, managed to botch this. |
