What do you want most on Wii U's eShop?
#1
Thread title says it all. What do you most want to see on whatever will be the Wii U's version of the eShop? Post anything. Games, service features, ect. Missing SNES Super FX games like Yoshi's Island and Star Fox, manual scans and cover art for VC titles? Unified release dates? Most titles cross playable between Wii U and 3DS?
Me? Content wise, I'd love to see lots of arcade shmups (2D shoot 'em up games). It'd be great if Cave approached Nintendo to bring over some of their shmups. They're hurting for money after all. Imagine being able to play a DoDonPachi game or Mushihimesama on the TV and then switch it to the Gamepad screen. If the controller is as light as folks say, it'd be easy to turn it around and hold in TATE mode. A post I made regarding this in one of the old Wii U speculation threads:

Good news: Isle Delfino looks amazing.
The bad news: Hunting blue coins in 720/1080p is still a terrible experience. Yeah, as I mentioned in the OP, we really need unified release dates between regions. |

The aspects of the eShop I'm most interested in are the sorts of things we'll never get to find out unless a developer anonymously spills the beans. But they also influence how much content goes up.
What's the process and cost involved in getting content up on the service? Is there a download limit? Are developers charged for title updates (ala Xbox Live) or for the bandwidth used to download their content (ala PSN)? How much control do they have over setting the price of their content? Are F2P titles allowed? How much of a cut does Nintendo take on sales? Is there a sales threshold that has to be met before they get their sales revenue from Nintendo? Will there be periodic sales where (again) publishers/developers can set their own prices? Then there's other stuff like how good the UI will be and whether they'll have the eShop website up and running at launch. (as in the website you can browse from any web-enabled device to buy eShop content) |

- Transferable Wii/3DS purchases (already confirmed for Wii);
- Virtual console handheld - Wii/GC games => At this point, the WiiU will be the definitive Nintendo system, able to play everything since the NES! - The other missing "modern" systems (Saturn, Dreamcast, GC) - Nintendoes what Dolphin does (HD assets for GC/Wii games) - Game renting throught cloud gaming (not gonna happen) - More Anabi Festival/unreleased games: From SattellaView Zelda's and Starfox 2 to Another Code R (for the US). - 10~25$ gift cards with several games and music CD or NFC fig. And that's just on the virtual console side! |

Well obviously that sort of thing is in the hands of publishers. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some wrangling on how much of a cut Nintendo gets, especially from the likes of EA.

Well, Sony managed to force all PS-Vita developers to do it, so Nintendo should be able to as well.

I also want Nintendo to stop being inept, and to start tying my purchases to me instead of to my hardware. That they released the 3DS eshop like this is a joke. I won't buy any digital versions of retail games until they correct this mistake.
I do, because when Nintendo deals with the wishes of third parties, we get stupid s*** like demo limits. |

Gamecube virtual console hands down. Someone suggested DS games and I could see that being feasible down the line eventually. Seems a bit early but I wouldn't mind for a few games.
What I'd really like is for the virtual console service in general to start releasing the good games right off the bad and not saving them for years and years down the line. I'm still waiting on most of the N64 library Nintendo. Nintendo even stopped continuing the service on the Wii because it wasn't selling very well. Maybe if they stopped putting out crap it wouldn't be a problem. /rant Other than VC stuff what I'd really like to see is more retail like games going for cheaper prices. Like the Trine 2 game that's coming to eShop in a way. If Nintendo wants to hold games at their $50-$60 price range then release all the year old ports or something on the eShop for cheaper. I could see a price like $30 working out really well for games like Arkham City and Mass Effect 3. Nintendo is going to have a hard time convincing many people to buy a game that came out a year or two ago again at full price. |

The opening of the Virtual Console floodgates: ten VC games a week. Cross-account "transfarring" between 3DS and Wii U. Regional equality. Getting around the fucking ratings board that slows down so many quality releases (especially the OFLC in Australia - biggest bullshit fees). Upscaled GCN games. GBA Virtual Console (for 3DS). Full retail releases of obscure DS and Wii games on the eShop (Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love! Captain Rainbow! Zangeki no Reginleiv!)
"Achievement" integration could be cool, but it would slow things down considerably. And, by the looks of things, Nintendo certainly don't need any slowing down in their release rate -_-;;

The minimum I ask for is Gamecube games on VC, and for the entire Wii VC library to be available from the start (or damn soon after launch).
Also, it would be nice if they kept up a steady stream of good games. The 3DS eShop has been abysmal for the past couple of months. |
