Nintendo Gamer: Black Ops II coming to Wii U
#1
There's a new issue of Nintendo Gamer that has a whole preview section for Black Ops II with "Preview Wii U" on the top.
Not sure if I can link the site as it contains a scanned image of the page. Mag error? Unintentional spilling of the beans? It'd be a pretty big mistake if it's just an error. |

Eric Hirshberg's extremely awkward "no comment" pivot during his interview on GTTV made it seem, to me at least, that there was some underlying reason they weren't talking about CoD on Anyang other than Xbox. If Microsoft paid for exclusivity during E3, the CEO can't be on national tv talking about other platforms. But who knows. |

Why did anybody think this wouldn't happen? The last few CoDs have all been on the Wii, for goodness sake.

We already know Skylanders is coming ( confirmed by Activision themselves, despite without a PR ), and 007 too ( Shiggy doing what ninja don't want you to do: leaking ).

Nintendo Directs and Fall Conference for the win, reaching the core audience immediatly and with no big spending: it's what they're doing now. NSMB2 has been announced on a freaking Nintendo Direct, just to say.

It's pretty clear the Microsoft had some kind of agreement with both Activision and EA Sports at this E3. Their main titles were never going to skip the Wii U.

I'm more interested to see EA's offerings, but this is pretty big for Nintendo.
The problem, though, is that people already have their established 360/PS3 tags/clans/etc for CoD. I can't imagine why anyone would buy this unless it is drastically better than the other versions. |

Just because you may seemingly have something against Nintendo, doesn't mean it's not a big deal. Call of Duty is huge to the general public, no matter what system it's on.
If this really is true, it's one of the titles I'm buying with the Wii U myself. Not quite technically impossible, but it may as well be realistically impossible. =P |

I doubt many will migrate away just to play it on the Wii U. This might be a big deal for the Nintendo exclusive gamer, but I doubt it moves the needle for those that already play COD on other platforms. |

Call of duty: check! Now we just need an esclusive 007 title (Skyfall?) and we can consider Activision on board. Man, what an awful conf they set at E3... |

It's not that the Wii U getting Black Ops 2 is that big a deal..it's that if it didn't it would have been a huge deal (ie, "Nintendo can't even get a game published onto any system with buttons?").
So it's more the prevention of that that is news, here. I can't word it well. |

I'm still skeptical, unless someone can point me to proof that this is a reputable magazine. |

It's (charitably) a few months too soon to say for sure, but the E3 showing - no launch-window exclusives aimed at that audience other than ZombiU, very few additional timely multiplatform announcements, further disconfirmation of multiplatform titles like LoS2 that ought to be coming - was not encouraging. Anyway, BOII is almost certainly coming, but NGamer isn't really a credible source. |

Call of Duty has an established player base on the Wii as well. Let's not purposefully ignore this please. Then there are those that did migrate to the PS3/360/PC versions because of the lack of DLC and a good way to patch the Wii games. Those problems being solved it's not crazy to think the Wii U version would have a higher sales then Wii versions in the end and people would migrate over. Especially if they are getting a Wii U system anyway.
