oh NO
Iwata, what have you done! 99 page thread incoming. wtf @ "can't be replicated".... it has wifi, what's the problem. Also, I don't buy his answer that the competition started too far ahead, since Wii and PS3 shipped within a week of each other in NA, and both were net capable.

Well it's true. It's not like they are sitting a mountain of cash and could use that to develop a stronger online infrastructure.
Sadly there will be people who come in and defend this position. |

Iwata: Xbox Live and PSN are too far developed for Nintendo to catch up
Having read the Q&A this is from, and then this article, all I have to say is way to take things out of context. This. Can't say I'm shocked though, controversial title = More views. |

The spirit of Iwata's words was that they decided to approach online from an alternative angle. The title of this thread/article, which is all some people are going to read, sounds like an admission that they aren't even trying, which is what some people are going to want to read.
That doesn't mean you had to use it. |

Iwata says "We don't think its in our best interest to try and catch up with these services 6-7 years old in months" Means "We won't even bother trying!" How does that work. |

This piece of news alone truly cements my position to wait waaaay after launch to consider buying a Wii U. Probably at a price drop, maybe not even until Smash Bros. Wii U.
The fact that they're not even going to try to make a competent online network shows how stubborn Nintendo is and I'm not going to entertain the stubbornness any longer. It's 2012. My Nintendo games deserve a useful damn online multiplayer network. |

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

I am fully aware that I am whistling in the wind, but do you and others even attempt to read the article in question? Fucking hell this place.
