you know its funny when the new Resident Evil movie makes more sense than the newest game. Game looks like a bad mess.

WOW, Millia, Jill, and Ada look so great and Pretty

Im there! and in 3D! It was a blast last time.

AND ITS BARRY BURTON!

Barry is being played by Keamy from Lost, lol

if the Jill sandwich line isn't in the movie it will render the film a complete failure.

I like how consistent this franchise is (in general.) Genuinely love the first, and a good 20% of that was Michelle Rodriguez so I'm pretty hyped for this, even though it's likely just a glorified cameo.

Still haven't seen the fourth though. :/

From the sound of this trailer, it sounds like this movie is setting up the "final battle" in the next one. I do think it should... probably end at 6.

It's much more offensive than making a 4th sequel to an adaptation of a videogame that was cobbled together from bits of old horror movies.

How the fuck does Umbrella have bases all over the world?
Where the fuck did they get this technology from?
How do they build a, presumably, new type of VTOL aircraft and have the resources to not only build hundreds of them, but fuel them as well.
Most of earth is a wasteland, food should be extremely scarce by now.
How the FUCK did they build a massive underground laboratory in the middle of a desert during a zombie apocalypse?
Was that a base in the middle of the ocean? Really? REALLY?
What does Umbrella's goal? Most of humanity is dead. Doing all this shit literally pointless. There is NO one to control or dominate over.

Ugh. Fuck. Let me stop. My mind can't take the stupid.

I'll see it opening day.

I don't why I find these movies so entertaining.

As for if Wesker dies at the end, does that really matter? They could conceivably come up with a dozen ways to bring him back. Hell, just look at how he ended up at the end of the last movie!

I still reckon the second movie is one of the best as it's the closest to the games out of all the movies:

-Set in racoon city
-Nemesis
-Jill (so hot)
-Nuking the city
-Swat teams fighting the zombies

I think there are a few more references but I cant remember it's been too long.

Nemesis remembers that he was once human, starts crying and turns on the good side. That little detail ruins everything that might be good about the movie (well, except Jill; Sienna Guillory cosplaying as Jill is still the best thing in that movie).

For those wonder about Chris, Claire and K-Mart.

Quote:
"Chris, Claire, and K-Mart have been captured by Umbrella in this one, so no, [Miller] won't be in this movie," Jovovich told a fan on Twitter.
Also Li Bingbing looks really weird in that outfit. Looks too stiff and cosplay-like. She looks better in her other movies. Didn't know she is 39 until I googled.

As long as it's better than Extinction i'll be happy.
Still don't get how people say Apocalypse is the worse of the bunch, extinction is just down right terrible.

The other films at least can be considered guilty pleasures.
Still whenever this series ends I'd love to see a reboot with a competent director and much better script that actually tries to follow the games more closely than this.

The Resident Evil films are a guilty pleasure for me so I shall be there opening weekend but is there any other film franchise that is so interchangeable.

Thinking back I can barely distinguish one film from another they are just so similar...., or creatively bankrupt, depends on how you look at it.

I'm also a little shocked at everyone in this thread angry at some of the casting. At this point the Resident Evil franchise, be it films or the games, are barely a level the sort of B movie guff Roger Corman used to make.

Are people really that invested in such a paper thin universe and concept?

I don't really think its that. I think it's the fact that Anderson takes bits and pieces of the game and sprinkles them into "My hot wife: the movie.". Am I expecting the games? No, but at the same time, I would want someone (unfamiliar with the game) to watch the movie and come up with the same basic idea and conclusion as if they've watched me play the game beginning to end. Perfect example, when my family sat and watched the original movie, my brother and i enjoyed it because we understood the references to the game series (the mansion leading to the lab, the licker, mention of the nemesis, seeing a glimpse of Wesker at the end, the leading into RE2, etc). My mom (whom is a major horror buff, probably seeing very 70-80s b-movie you can think of) simply put as as she didn't get it.

The thing that bugs me most about this is that Anderson is way smarter and better than this. He's not uwe bowe after all. The man did give us Mortal Kombat, which may not have everything the game has (mostly fatalities and blood missing), it allows non fans to easily get the idea and see what the game is all about. At that other end of the spectrum, I've have family watch the mk movie, only to go to us kids and say, "I see why you guys love the game, it's awesome."

Hoping for an awesome Leon vs Ada vs Wesker battle at the end.

I saw Apocalypse and had a fun time EXCEPT that fight at the end between Alice and Nemesis. The cuts were so fucking awful because they had to hide the fact it was a dude in a suit. Other than that it was a decent time. I might rent the Bluray of Extinction today and finally watch it. I couldn't get passed the first 15 minutes of the latest one. When she did this awful looking flip in the beginning action sequence me and one of my roommates at the time turned that shit off.

Sorry, but I think RE has more in its spirit than merely your description. It's kinda like how Game Informer was on a roll repeatedly stating that Megaman is nothing more than a robot blowing stuff up. They're missing the point.

But again, we're talking these things knowing the original source. How would the average person:

1. Know the mutation effects of the virus (or even how we get from zombies to lickers to tyrants to la plagas without new viruses introduced)
2. Know who the fuck wesker is (ie. the man in glasses walking behind the window Alice is screaming at during the epilogue of the first movie)
3. What Nemesis is (based on the info given in the first movie)
4. What the fuck STARS is? And why does umbrella care if they're dead or alive above all other people.
5. How Chris and Claire know who Wesker is (the climax of the 4th movie)
6. As people ask in this forum, why the fuck umbrella is doing these things or even, how do they avoid conviction?

Without playing the game, or waiting for a later sequel to try to explain it in half assed fashion. Again, Anderson was able to properly explain the back stories of all the characters of MK within an hour and a half without any major fuck ups, so I don't get it. If not for his wife's sake, then why?
