It took 2 full seasons until Futurama started to shine. |

As for this season...I'm hopeful, but I wish they'd do more actual Sci-Fi stuff like the first four seasons, as the character pieces have lacked real substance since the original run. Or at least combine them, as in my opinion that results in some of the best episodes (The Late Philip J Fry, Parasites Lost, Time Keeps on Slipping). Also, I wish the series still focused more on Fry, because as much as I love the rest of the cast, they're boring as main characters (in my opinion). But Groening has said they're pretty much doing away with the whole Fry-centric plotline in the future. Oh well. Just excited for more Futurama. It's like every new episode is a little blessing, even if it's shit. |

Fox originally aired them out of production order, and spread 4 seasons over 5 years. So although FOX originally ordered 13 episodes for season 1 they only broadcast 9 of those 13 episodes as the "first season", saving the other 4 for "season 2". Now add in that the movies count as Season 5, and Comedy Central breaks up 1 production season into 2 broadcast seasons. Understanding when a Futurama season starts and stops can be confusing. The episode list on wikipedia follows the production order http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Futurama_episodes

Caught the end of the first episode and it was good and the second episode was ok, but good for a season premier :)
Though I'm glad they showed "the late Philip j fry" before 10 pm, that episode is still amazing and one of my favorites. That song is catchy, "in the year 252525....." |

Loved the 2nd half of the 1st and the 1st half of the last lol but overall they were pretty good, that last part of the 2nd eps was pretty out there though even for futurama, usually they try to keep it some what based in reality but still pretty funny moments. Just glad that it's back!

My issue with both episodes was that they have these grand epic moments.... and then cut away from them and just go "oh, well it's a good thing so and so did this". Just irritates me. The Tron Legacy joke made me cringe. The callback to the shut up and take my money was interesting in the first episode, but it was really unneeded. I did enjoy the episodes over all though.

First episode was pretty good. Second wasn't so much, but still had its moments.
The thing that's occured to me between revisiting some season six episodes on DVD and watching these two is that the new episodes just don't seem to be as rewatchable as the older ones. They're entertaining enough for a first viewing, but don't really have any sticking power. Even the stronger stuff from last season like The Late Philip J. Fry didn't seem to hold up much to repeat viewing. |
