As far as mexican food goes, I can't think of anything better than some really good fajitas.

Hmmm. I can't decide if I like reubens, philly cheesesteaks, or gyros better.

Cheese Burgers? Chicken Fried Rice? Tacos? Ramen? Has no one in this thread been to an actual non-fast food restaurant?

Here is my choice, the most amazingly cooked Wagyu/Kobe Rib Steak you can get (about $100-200 each steak):

EDIT - I just noticed the bit about after a night of drinking, I thought OP was just appending that to his quote on tastiest food in the world. I still would pick the above.

Masala butter chicken

Kind of but it doesn't taste the same. If you got both at the same time they'd look exactly the same. It doesn't really have an orange taste though.

Places around here use dark meat for Tso's and white for orange a lot of times which can be good or bad depending on your preference I guess.

It depends. The real dish is sour and very spicy with the sauce based on tomato paste, Huananese cooking is rarely sweet. What you'll often find though is a sweet and mildly spicy dish using the name but made for fast food american tastes.

Aged sirloin steak at Gallager's Steak House in the New York-New York hotel in Las Vegas. Best steak I've ever had.

Dessert catagory - The "Ron Bennington" cupcake at Molly's in Chicago. They also have a shop in NYC but I've never been there.

It's kind of sad to see people who think Chicken McNuggets and a fast food burger is as good as it gets.

Yeah, you have to go South-South in order to get good gumbo, but when you get it...

Pad Thai's a double-edged sword though. I love it, but my stomach doesn't. I get ungodly diarrhea several hours after.

Real Kobe beef from Kobe. Honestly, it was the closest I've ever got to a spiritual culinary experience. The beef just melted in my mouth - a taste of the divine? Nothing else mattered at that moment. It was so insanedly good we went twice to Kobe (a complete sidetrip since we weren't doing anything else there) that week just to eat it again.

Fatty tuna! This also melts in your mouth. Soooooo goooood.

Also, Cantonese-style lobster. That sauce - finger-licking good!

Snails in black bean sauce or oyster sauce, oh my!

Bun Rieu! Pho is the more popular Vietnamese soup, but I love Bun Rieu so much more! Noodles, tomato broth, crab paste, tofu, various veggies/herbs, (optional congealed pig's blood) - this thing home-made is <3 <3 <3

Pyongyang noodles/Naengmyeon (no, I did not have have them in Pyongyang, haha - in Seoul!). My palate was not used to this at first, since this is a cold dish. However, they ended up being the most amazing noodles!

French baguettes. I've always liked these, but those I had at a local bakery in St-Malo and Bernieres-sur-Mer, France when I was staying there were so amazing. I'd buy them every morning and eat it with nothing else. Yum!

Also, balut. I don't have it often, but when I do I adore it to bits. Let's just say this is the only pic I'll post of it: (you can google it if curious - not for the faint of heart!)

Yeah, I went to a few top notch places in HK when I went to study there. I was thinking 'wtf?! same shit as in Toronto!" I asked my prof, who literally wrote HK's history book and he just said a lot of cooks emigrated to NA when they could.

Ain't complainin

Greatest tasting though? Probably a steak...

If you're lucky, you get to work/live near Thai restaurant that actually knows how to cook sour and spicy dishes. Otherwise, you can really get some horrendous food. It takes a bit of a care to actually mix and match those spices to the right balance.

I nominated Tom Kha Gai - Sour and Spicy Chicken soup.
