Eventually, The Amazing Spiderman was just a small part of a bigger plan they say.
only saved from Main Garfield , Ifans , Stone , Leary and of course any action scenes , which again is not enough. what to do though? His weakness we have, you see! This Spidey every time you fly so actually causes dizziness and happens to fly to and agreements with him like a child. And in these scenes Each time you let yourself, cut your breath and feel exactly like that.

I love this quote and notion in other reviews "It's an efficient piece of corporate film-making, but nothing more"

I don't read comics, but isn't this supposed to be one of the most faithful adoptions of a comic-book to a movie, essentially being a love letter to fans of the character?

Seen it on Tuesday (French premiere, about 2000 people) and it was so epic.

I've never been in something like this, everyone yelling, cheering, clapping at every funny moment, when Spidey shows up, when it gets epic. It was nice at first but a bit annoying at the end.

We saw Andy, Emma, Rhys and Marc for 5 min before the movie, they were about 100 meters away, and it was awesome, classic stuff of course, they left afterwards (they just did Japan, London, Paris, Berlin, and they are now in Spain, all of this in 4 days (for the last four countries) ), but it was still cool.

I had huge expectations, easily one of my most anticipated movie and I was blown away. I dig the first one, LOVE the second one (now my third favorite superhero movie) and enjoy the third one despite its many flaws. TASM easily beats every one of those, I dont like comparing but it's just obvious.

Andy is incredible, really, I was blown away by him in Boy A, TSN, he was excellent in Never Let Me Go as well, but this is a notch above, he literally is Peter Parker, I couldnt believe what I was seeing, he has such a range of emotions.

There is a montage after he's bit by the spider, and it's hysterical, everyone was laughing, I was in tears, he has such comic abilities, and also, there are some emotional moments (yeah yeah), and when he cries, something happens, there's a childish quality already seen in Boy A, or NLMG, you just buy it. He has a nerdish quality, but they also show, finally that Peter is truly a genius.

When Tobey was crying, well, it felt forced, and a bit ridiculous. Andy is just so likeable, everyone praises him but not enough to my taste, truly one of the best if not best superhero performance ever.

Emma is great as well, great obvious chemistry with Andy. Rhys is surprising as Curt Connors when you know him from other movies. He nails it, and the Lizard surprisingly looks pretty damn good, quite convincing.

Leary is great as Cap Stacy, so are Martin Sheen and Sally Field, Uncle Ben and Aunt May are quite present in the movie, especially Ben, I felt way more invested in the character, and his death is a fantastic scene, way more powerful than in the Raimis, Andy in those moments is so genuine, there is no cheating, and you'll laugh at me, but when he cried, I shed a few tears as well :D

The movie is really funny, hilarious scenes throughout, there is also definitely a 500 Days Of Summer feel (to me), it's witty, plenty of charm, warmth, but also on the romance side, it's all very natural, grounded.

It sometimes gets serious, and I feel that Webb nails those changes of tones, just like he did in 500 Days, there is a true vision here, it's not some yesman just doing what he's told.

The action as well is top notch, and it is visually absolutely spectacular, gorgeous cinematography, great choreography, the CG is top notch, Spidey feels much more realistic in its animation, they are clearly using (as they said) the practical stuff as a reference, and the practical stuff is really awesome as well. Iconic poses straight out of the comic books are everywhere, the framing gets really creative, and it feels comic booky more than once.

The 3D is spectacular, and really brings some WOW factor to the whole thing, great depth throughout, very natural, and the action scenes look great, and the webslinging (last 30 min are insane) is out of this world, there is a scene where the audience was cheering, and it's like 2 min of webslinging, with popping out 3D, and it is GEEK HEAVEN, I was seriously creaming my pants live.

The origin stuff is pretty similar but the tone is completely different, and I dont know, I didnt for once think of Spidey 1, it feels fresh and new. The parents stuff is there in the first 10 min, and serves as an emotional counterpoint for who Peter is, there are quite a few controversial lines from the trailers "do you have any idea who you really are", "do you think it was an accident" that aren't there, which makes me think that they might have dropped some elements, either because it didnt test well or because they're saving it for the sequels.

I think so because it is referenced throughout the movie, there is a pretty insistent shot at the beginning of the movie, on something in a jar and the after credits scene clearly addresses it.

Very excited for the next villain.

Oh and the ending shot of the movie is in one of the gifs posted on this thread, the web comes out of the screen, awesome.

Before I forget, I think the score is fantastic, and it really elevates the movie, quite epic, eerie, emotional.

Can't wait to see it again, this will be a big hit, WOM will be stellar.

He gotta check first if the movie ends up having any ties with the MCU.

And it was so obvious that .gif of Spider-Man swinging toward the camera was the final shot of the movie, why the surprise? It's like telling you a Batman movie ends with him gliding or Superman flying.

So, who's the next baddie? Not sure if I want to know, but it's two weeks before I can watch it.

Well, what I did was to connect on the website of the theater, and you know, well, order my tickets.......

After-credits scene:

Connors is locked up in jail, there's a man in the shadows, it's Norman Osborn, he has long hair, his face is never seen but we know it's him. We are told in the movie that he is dying, and that's why Dr Ratha is pressing Connors for results with his cross-species experiment, to what end? it's not told, but I'm ready for full Ultimate Green Goblin organic like. Bring it! Oh and Norman is played by Michael Massee, awesome!

Nope, doesn't seem to be the case at all. :\ He speaks a lot as the Lizard apparently, so the snout thing was never a real end-all option. I've gotten used to the non-snout tbh.

I thought you were banned! Knew you were seeing it early so I was afraid it was a perma and we'd never hear your thoughts. Sounds like it was everything you hoped for and more. As a spidey fan I think i'll probably fall in a similar category as you just because i'm hopeful for the new franchise as a whole. :p Most of the reviews say Lizard wasn't that great (CG and character-wise), so care to elaborate?

Yup, I even said so when I posted that gif in the other thread. :p I'm really curious who they're going to go with next. Gonna be very tricky IMO. The Irfan rumors as Proto Gob are displeasing to me.

A ridiculously spoilerific (yet official) clip has been making its rounds on YT, i'd rather not post it. Dialog exchange between Irfan's character and Conners. Reveals quite a bit imo.

There's also a Pete/Gwen clip, a high school dialog scene where he's trying to ask her out. Webb really shines here, and they nail that awkwardness that embodies Parker. It's perfect.

WOW. This OP was started three days ago and it's only four pages? While GAF activity is by no means a metric to measure anything this still seems a little quiet to me.

I know that the hype for this film is nowhere near the buzz of an Avengers or a TDKR but even still, where are GAF's Spidey fans?

Everything that people wanted to say about this film has already been said so now this OT represents a dignified silence?

It feels to me that there is a distinct lack of excitement for this film and this is reflected in the thread. Perhaps when the US media start releasing reviews things might pick back up again.

I certainly wish there was more excitement for this because I find it to be quite fun to discuss the character and his comic books, but it seems gaf in particular hasn't been terribly interested in this movie from the onset. Odd complaints about Garfield being a hipster and an obsession about his hair has been really telling about how this movie was going to be received here. It doesn't help that this film is following the much loved Raimi trilogy, but also the much loathed third part.

I'm enormously excited, even super hyped. But yeah, it's like, it's hard to find the same excitement.

This is my second most awaited film only surpassed by 007 Skyfall. I'm not even interested in TDKR. I have even pre-ordered 5 tickets for the girlfriend and friends, if not family.

Though, I don't have anything more to add. I could have booked for July 2, dunno why I picked July 3 lol, maybe cause it's the official premiere. I hope for more impressions and reviews in here, hopefully from those who know the comic Spidey as well.

Another thing, I seriously don't get the GAF hate that has been lasting for months. A quick reboot? So what.

Andrew Garfield is one of my favorite actors, Emma Stone is my favorite actress alongside Ellen Page and Natalie Portmann and Marc Webb is directing; he did (500) Days of Summer; probably my favorite movie in the year it released. I never liked Toby Maguire, and loathed Kirsten Dunst. Still like the trilogy.

This movie will probably perfect for me, though, I do admit I'm not too fond of The Lizard. Hopefully Kraven or Mysterio is in one of the sequels.

It kind of feels like it. Not only that, but we already know so much about the movie from the long clips Sony have released and they have already been discussed to death in the previous thread. There is nothing new coming out about this movie until the US review embargo ends on the 27th(?) when we can hate on reviewers who love Raimi-Man rather than Spider-Man.

Yeah, everything was discussed to hell in the other thread, at this point we just wait until more people get their early screenings and gaffer opinions trickle out.

I think if you're down on the entire idea you might come out thinking it was a good movie/story but still didn't feel like you got anything substantial out of it akin to the first SM movie. Otherwise (everyone else) will probably enjoy it. A reboot is a reboot regardless of how good it is, there's no playing down the fact that we've seen a hell of a lot of spidey in action over the years, and this is just more of that (amazing or not).
