Same reason why people were hoping for dual analog sticks. If I recall it correctly, Nintendo never did that anyway. Also if it had dual analog sticks and future games were designed especially for this - which would have been a shitload of games - it would be a complete mess for original 3ds owners, since they would HAVE to use the additional analog stick accessory like ALL THE TIME.

Well, I was actually about to get a 3DS this week but I think my plans are changing. I just wish it came out sooner.

Although part of me just wants to get the original. Bigger screen + extra battery life isn't that big of a deal. I was mainly waiting to see if there were major changes to the system itself.

Matte plastic? That's a plus IMO. All that shiny plastic shit is made to look like crap after use.

Also, Nyko is going to make a KILLING off this line. They can push cheap A/C adapters out and add a line of Circle Plus Batter pack add ons. Sure it will look like a Sega Nomad, but the bigger the better on hands.

The games are designed for a specific resolution.

A higher resolution screen would literally do nothing to change the look of the games.

If you started re-rendering games in a new resolution, you'd need additional graphical hardware in there... and that's like talking about a new platform altogether.

No upgrade to a handheld platform has EVER had a resolution increase! No one should ever expect something like that! This is a crazy new meme or something, no basis in reality!
