Figured NY would win this hands down. Chinese food outside of NY tends to be made by whites so it's not as authentic.
By the way, perfect opportunity to post a picture of some fast food Chinese I bought the other day. So goooood.

Mind you, little of it is authentic anywhere, even in New York (where these Americanized dishes were birthed). |

New York Chinatowns have Xinjiang street food, though. Which I can't even find in Hong Kong!
He seems to be too particular, especially his focus on Hong Kong, 6 out of his top 10 are Dim Sum! I know many people in Beijing who rarely or have never eaten Dim Sum, but will rave about some Sichuan, Yunnan or Xinjiang place. Chinese food is more than Cantonese food.

I agree with this article.
Hong Kong and Macau has the best chinese food in China. Not of a fan of northern Chinese food. Vancouver has the best chinese food in North America. LA has the best in US and SF second. New York has some decent places but doesn't compare. |

That last paragraph is telling I think. I don't know anything about Chinese society but it comes across very...condescending, maybe? Like he's saying these no-good country folk were making their slop and then the civilized Chinese from the cities were allowed in and they brought acceptable food.

And yes I agree the best Chinese meal I've had in North America was in Vancouver. |

I think there's a lot of diversity in Chinese food, and just limiting your palate to a tiny region is boring. Sichuan, Lanzhou, Mongolian, Tibetan, Yunnan, Xinjiang, Shanghai, Shanxi, Shandong, Hangzhou are all very different. |
