The plumetting stock price speaks for itself, but all of their other evidence is utter bullshit (not least of which is comparing 3DS's one year sales to lifetime DS/GBA sales).

Nintendoomed - ignoring all fact and reason - goes mainstream! The common (but not wholly cumulative) lack of expertise in specific, idiosyncratic fields by journalists really comes across here.

These hit pieces and FUD from analysts and enthusiast media have been so amazingly consistent over the past 7 years or so that it's obvious there's some kind of organized effort to manipulate the market going on here. Would love to know who's behind it and exactly what they want to accomplish.

The bigger trend is clear though: dedicated handheld consoles are a dying breed. The Nintendo 3DS has sold only 17 million units, far less than the 150 million Nintendo DS units or 81 million Game Boy Advance units the company has sold.
The Wii U has also sold a shocking 0 units. Far, far less than it's predecessor the Wii.

Best way to get people to read what your saying is to be a 'Yes Man' and say whatever they want you to say. So following trends is a must even if its a bust. ohyeahhh.gif

Don't worry. If after a few years it still hasn't sold well, Nintendo can just announce some new features to boost their launch numbers.

Dude doesn't have a "valid point" whatsoever. It's the usual uninformed bullshit you read these days. The mobile game market is worth 18 billion dollars! That sounds fucking amazing - until you realize that those 18 billion dollars are split across tens of thousands of games by thousands of publishers across several platforms.

Never? There are tons of Sony stock/doom threads. MS is largest software group around, so hard find anything to doom.

I think this might have been their attempt at that. I think their goal was: Write an article that's just plain stupid which will make people enraged and click the article in disgust so we can make more ad revenue.

I have a hard time believing any other explanation really. Though I guess the title could be more inflammatory.

Its been very consistent since 2006, but I doubt its a concerted agenda. Just lots of little parallel agendas.

Every single generation...

Nintendo has been a profitable company for 30 years, which is more than you can say about any other game company. One year in the red is a wii-bit too soon to start screaming about oblivion like a crazy person.

The one that never finished Super Mario Galaxy, and Skyward Sword. People want Nintendo to change it won't happen, they're successful and aren't afraid of their 'demanding' fans.
They don't need to tweak the formula because it sells, but this stagnation has put me off. Actually, the departure from Majora's Mask/WindWanker has alienated me.

This, I feel gaming journalist/analyst really are out of touch. I kept hearing how PSP/Vita was going to destroy DS/3DS, how Wii/WiiU are DOOOMED. It really is quiet hilarious not only are they wrong, but they continue to be wrong about the same things over and over again.

The article uses some odd arguments, but there is a very real, clear threat from Mobile and Apple in general. Iwata's speech about $40 games wasn't an accident.

Also, their apathy to online gaming lags far behind their competitors.

But they are still sitting on what, 10 Billion in cash? They just have to be smart with it, I don't expect to see them wiped out in a few years.

These days people expect their consoles to do more than playing games. You could say the PS2 with it's DVD playback was the tipping point over a decade ago, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight to what Microsoft will add to Live. Entertainment hubs are what consoles are transforming into, good or bad.

Fantastic.
It worked for me, the new stuff isn't working. These are my feelings when it comes to Nintendo.

We jumped from Majora's Mask to WindWaker, that took some getting used to, then we leaped into the linear/easy/glitchy/tedious Skyward Sword (As Twilght Princess was originally intended to be a Gamecube game).

Zelda HD Wii-U looks promising, but research and development combined with the word 'casual' does prevent me from getting too comfortable.

I feel that Mario is an experienced old man when it comes to platforming, but he needs a change of scenery, maybe a medieval type of resurgence. I don't find him rad.
