I'm not trying to be controversial, I'm no anti-semite and definitely don't want to offend, but that is my opinion. |

Type 'paedo' into a google image search and see how many pages you need to scroll through before you see a non-white face.

Not how it works. The feeling of "offensive" is subjective and personal. Some things can be more universal than others, but they never truly be universal. Besides, the word "offensive" is not always the most appropriate description of certain feelings. I've had feelings of something being "not okay" but I would never classify it under "offense" nor would I ever ask others or judge them for not feeling the same way. I don't think I've ever been "offended" online.

But the Holocaust absolutely happened, and I'm not trying to diminish its horror in anyway. |

Who exactly is behind this exaggeration? Just a general media over-estimation or an attempt to demonize the then evil Germans?

Examples: the complexity arising from evolution, the size and life of the universe, the fact that objects are primarily empty space, and yes, the atrocities of the Holocaust. If you don't have any evidence to back up your doubt, you may want to consider just keeping it to yourself. |

I didn't find anything offensive about the comments that I saw scanning on the first page, but what you just said actually put a queasy feeling in my stomach just now.

What? The only offensive posts on gaf that I remember are slut-shamers like (Un)FortunateSon and people "supporting" rape-culture. Oh yeah, I think I remember people calling black women ugly/fat or something like that... not only is that racist, it shows you've got no taste in women ;) |

Y'know, I'm curious about this. What's the most random thread that went offensive? Like, I kind of expect the discussion to go a certain way and get heated for basically a large variety of threads so I'm never really surprised when things go south there. But what about the unexpected "What the fuck happened here?!" threads?

No, not that. He is referring to things that are considered offensive when being discussed given how closely the posters tend to be attached to their ideology (living it). Being gay, ethnic, or a certain economic class. He's just joking about how "easy" straight white males have it in the world or, at least, are perceived to; therefore, there is not much to be "offended" by.

So I would guess that the 6 million figure is based on census figures and anecdotal evidence, and there is no reason to doubt it in terms of order of magnitude. You will never get a 100 percent accurate number, but it was still an abhorrently high number. Instead you have to go on the evidence of the survivors and witnesses to it, of which there are no end. You would have to be wilfully ignorant to challenge the event or even the scale of it having happened. There is plenty of evidence around to prove that it did happen. I mean, look at recent disasters like the tsunami in the Indian Ocean. We can't even get accurate numbers of that, although there are estimates of 200,000 to 300,000.

Modern white people generally don't have a sense of racial identity like other groups, so it's hard to get offended by stuff. I think that's what he's talking about. After all, white nationalism and racial identity caused a lot of problems around the world during the 20th century, so it's discouraged.
