Any thread involving black people or women, something is bound to be offensive. The faux outrage at male victimhood always cracks me up. I feel like people show a lil more restraint than in past years when it comes to race (just a lil lol) but there's some he-man woman haters here.

Holy Pink Unicorn for some of those links ...
Also, the "cop said women should wear longer skirts" thread deserves a mention
There are people being DISGUSTED by the idea of a person (and not even counting sex with said person) and some people calling trans people "man in women clothing" (the definition of crossdresser) ...and one joke about killing after figuring out =P And that is only on the first 50 posts.. if you count 100 you have even people actualy saying that using the right pronoums is disgusting, A post like that we had last year was THOUSAND times better than this. edit:
So a woman to her is not appealing

Driving threads
Parking threads I get a kick out of any US vs. Europe threads, though. It seems to me what happens is: 1. Euro-GAF congregates. 2. US-GAF poster jokingly does AMERICA FUCK YEAH. 3. Euro-GAF poster takes it seriously and implies Americans are ignorant. 4. Hilarity ensues. |

I could see some Mormons getting offended on GAF. There have been some threads on here about the stupid idea that Obama is a Muslim, and tons of people responded saying "so what if he was a Muslim I wouldn't care", then later, in some thread about Romney being a Mormon possibly making him unelectable, a bunch of people responded along the lines of "good, we shouldn't have a Mormon president. Those people are crazy/idiots." A bunch of GAFers can't wait to self-righteously proclaim that they would have no problem with a Muslim president, but these same people have no problem saying a Mormon president would be terrible.

I would personally rather have an Atheist president because I think religious thought is a sign of mental weakness, but I'm not going to rail against a Mormon or a Muslim president. |

I've got nothing against Mormons and don't blindly equate being Mormon with being a racist/sexist psycho. The difference here though is that Obama, if he were a Muslim in secret; sadly enough, it would be okay since he isn't open with it or pushing it on anyone since he's "pretending to be Christian". Whereas a Mormon president would swing the other way. Anyway! This has less to do with what a person believes and more to do with how they act, along with what they say. Romney has said some jaw dropping things. And similarly with Obama, I was unsure about him and his actions thus far hasn't made me think any better of him. Actions>Words. Quite literally in the case of Religion and all ideologies. |

To me, a candidate's religious opinions do not dictate my vote. Sure, I may look for moral alignment of some measure, but I'm more concerned with your experience, decision making, your presumptive Cabinet, etc. What follows is wholly nonjudgmental and based on positions by Baptists, Church of Christ (Not UCoC, CoC - i.e. probably one of the most conservative Protestant denominations), Full Gospel, etc. The beef they have with Romney is that he positions himself as a Christian. Now, Christianity's a fickle beast. By in large, protestants believe that salvation can be found independently through the word (the Bible), but it branches off from there. Some denominations believe that the singular act of baptism is hugely important, other's don't. But, by in large, a Baptist and a Church of Christ parishioner are Christians. The core beliefs are: due to original sin, we are all sinners in spite of any good work me may profess to do; Jesus is the son of God who was sent to sacrifice himself for our sins and is the ONLY path to salvation; and the Old and New Testament (the Bible) are the complete (inspired) word of God that gives us guidance in our mortal lives. Now, Mormonism professes that the early church fell away from God's teachings and that the Bible is incomplete due to pagan influences of Greek and Roman philosophy amongst other issues. They also profess that the Bible is incomplete or has errors and that Joseph Smith received the Book of Mormon which corrects these errors and is an add-on to (what other protestants would call) the complete word of God. So, depending on who you ask, you get a wide range of answers to the question "Is Mormonism Christianity?" It's a complicated beast. Obviously, Catholicism and Protestanism diverge broadly - mainly on issues of the Pope, the holy sacraments, etc. I'm a Protestant, and my girlfriend is a very conservative Catholic. It's interesting to see how the Catholic church does service and the structure, for lack of a better term, of the message. At a certain point, they're almost wholly different religious experiences that share common lineage.

I depends on how you treat those who are religious. I dont treat them any differently unless the issue of their religion comes up in conversation.
True, some people would call my bias a mental weakness as well, and they may be correct.

A user by the name of Guybrush Threepwood got permabanned in the topic about Michael Jackson's death by insinuating that homosexuals and pedophiles were "exactly the same" people.
