I get the joke, but it's actually kinda true.
The colors were picked to show gratitude to the US for helping during their revolution. They really should've waited a couple of years to make sure that the US don't want to fucking colonize them first, because 2 years later they had to start re-writing history. drive by history lesson! |

The thing about the double down is that is actually has a benefit and makes sense from a low carb point of view. Plus it has a ton of protein. This thing has no benefit from putting cheese on the top of the bun. This has to be the most pointless fast food creation I've ever seen.

But it happened somewhere else. The original post was insinuating that big fat America (which I know always a favorite among non-Americans) needs to have shittier and shittier food that looked ridiculous, like the Double-Down. Sadly though, he didn't read the post enough to realize it was only in the Philippines.

There's something beautiful in the geometry of that monstrosity, in the way the corners of the cheese perfectly touch the edge of the bun without going over, creating the little wedge shapes of visible bun. It's like disgusting, indelible art.

It would have made more sense for the cheese to be on the bottom. Now you have to flip the sandwich before eating it to get the cheese effect.

Are you talking about a Filipino adobo or Mexican adobo.. pretty big difference. The Filipino version is marinated in vinegar, and is nothing like the Mexican version. Anyhow, you can get it in a sandwich at just about any worthwhile taco truck.. just ask for a torta. |

They also make Adobo flavored rolls like Curry rolls in Japan. Honestly though, at first glance the sandwich reminded me of Ensaymada although Ensaymada is a pastry. Still, could just be the Philippines fucked up ideas of what Americans like as evidenced by the types of Pizzas you can buy there: ![]() ![]() For the record the best KFC you can get in the Philippines was the Wasabi-Lime Chicken Twister wrap. May it rest in peace. |

Why the heck not, it's a very savory dish.. and any roasted/stewed chicken/pork/beef makes a tasty sandwich.

Jimmy Kimmel's show made a spoof ad complete with actual Filipino actors:
