Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie
Holy shit, why haven't I watched this sooner? Osamu Dezaki directed this amazing gem from 1982. It's like a perfect sci-fi adventure movie. God damn. The story starts off with a bounty hunter named Jane Flower catching Cobra's eye as she turns in a bounty. He decide he's interested in a fling with her and introduces himself courtesy of the huge bounty on his head. As it turns out, she's in danger herself and looks to Cobra for help. He reluctantly agrees and quickly finds himself in over his head yet sees it through to the finish as a matter of principle. The movie is beautiful and totally revels in motion. There's rarely any usage of stills as there's nearly always something going on onscreen be it wildlife in the sky, flowing clouds, or other weather effects. Computer screens are rife with moving images and effects animation abounds. Even shots of the background are often layered so a pan of the camera creates a parallax effect that gives the movie a great depth. For fun, here's my first exposure to this movie, and in turn, Cobra itself: Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend video :lol Music aside, it has some nice clips from early on that gives one a feel for the movie in motion.

A pretty random episode. Things happening all so suddenly, like rapid fire. I was really amused by the sheer madness that the show was going on, with the chase scene, the sudden and very random use of their toys, the engrish. It was a very enjoyable episode at the very least. |

It's more of a problem with execution than concept. |

Yeah, I watched the Space Adventure Cobra movie a while back and it was awesome. It's not so much the use of effects or quality of animation (which are high) that makes it as it is the abundance of visual innovation and style. It's like every couple of shots there will be something mesmerizing to look at onscreen, and it is largely lacking what I think of as the familiar Dezaki tricks - windswept still pans at dramatic moments and all that - making it all the more interesting and unpredictable to watch.
Plotwise it's pretty much a Saturday morning cartoon, and kinda pretty dumb when you get down to it, but it totally works for what it is.

I remember borrowing old VHS tapes of this and other series when I was a kid. Thanks to my cousins, despite being a 90s kid in Europe, I was exposed to the likes of Space Adventure Cobra, Macross, Starzinger, Silver Fang and even some Go Nagai works concurrently with the old Disneys, way before the more popular series I see people talk about here. Great times. |

Wouldn't Mutta knowing about the green cards kind of defeat the purpose? You would think it wouldn't be an accurate measure of how he deals with those kinds of situations. Though I guess it has lead to some interesting results with Serika's debacle. Oh well, this show still puts a smile on my face. |

And the next anime from P.A. Works will be... Red Data Girl, an adaptation of the novel by Noriko Ogiwara, with original character design once again by Mel Kishida.

As for everything else, the whole thing about the show is that everything he does is tied to luck somehow. Although I suppose they've totally forgotten/dropped that football thing that was referenced in the first episode by now. |

God damn, he fucked up. The moment she mentioned she broke up with her boyfriend should have been a huge red flag. Then when she left right after you tell her your current girlfriend's name is another "I fucked up" moment. God damn. Shit is about to go off the rails. |

Let's make the most of it and plug Night on the Galactic Railroad yet again. It's got cats! And space trains! I also forgot to mention the movie Junkers Come Here by Junichi Satou. It has a talking dog! |

Man, I should have picked something less terrible to watch after that movie. This sucks even more than usual as a consequence. There's a scene with terrible walking in this episode too that made it all the worse.

I forgot to ask what you thought of it. If you posted anything about it in May/June-time, I probably missed that. It really is probably my favorite animated movie. |

I said I'd leave it up to you, remember?
If it's of any help, I really reeaaally like panty shots, long hair, small breasts, and young girls of indicernible age. I also really like it when they fall over or trip on things. However I am also fine if you just :cajun on the page and do your thing. My image likely won't be hnnnnng enough for you, but it'll probably at least have a nice booty. I like big butts too. Butts > breasts! Suck on it haters. |

Bleach 263
So the fillers keep on going. This one is focusing on 6th company's captain and assistant captain's sword beasts getting trapped themselves in a lab and sill hijicks occur. It is a step up above normal fillers mostly for the action, reaction faces and comedy that occurs. Then again, I actually like that stuff so it is appealing to someone! |

Just scrubbed through my BD copy of the Gintama movie and Sentai did one of their derpy dubs again.
My favourite line is when Shinpachi yells out "Let's get a move on, bi-otches!". Thanks guy who does the Sentai dubs... thanks a lot. :p At least it looks nice and the Japanese audio is still there. |
