We still haven't heard any update about the power situation in Parkersburg WV. Its not looking good though. I'm using up my laptops battery to charge my phone right now. My car has a couple of USB ports but I don't want to turn the car on just for that. At least not yet.
Supposed to get up to about 105 degrees today, too. :( |

Southwest VA here, I guess we must be really lucky, except for some brief flickers we didn't lose power last night, and still have it this morning. Internet is down (Cox) but that's it. Supposed to get over 100 again today and stay in the 90s for a couple more days after that, this is the kind of weather people die in with no ac/electricity :( Stay safe GAFers!

Up in Hunt Valley it was crazy last night. At first I thought someone had jumped the gun and was shooting off fireworks. Then the storm started and power went out.
Wake up this morning and power was back, but all my deck furniture was all over the place. guess I'll need a new umbrella. |

West Baltimore, no power. Lost it about 11 last night, called and reported it right away. Still no power and they won't even give an estimate for when they will repair it.
Thank god for public libraries with air conditioning and open wi-fi. The Catonsville branch got their power back half an hour before I showed up so that was pretty lucky. I'm surprised the Sun isn't speculating about the heat/loss of power. It seems like conditions are ripe for some old people to die because of lack of power. It was pretty crazy last night though. I thought for sure there was a police car outside my house with their lights on but it was just constant lightning flashes.

Storm got pretty bad over here in Northern VA. Power flickered out about 10 times last night but I think the worst passed over us by midnight. I got lanterns set up all over the place for tonight and tomorrow night though. Friends are already out of power in this heat though. Don't know what they're gonna do without A/C.

We've had a lot of trauma in Parkersburg WV. No power in the county pretty much. I've been working at the hospital since the power went out just trying to maintain services. Somehow or another they got full power back to the buildings, so to me that means they are working toward solutions.
We've had some deaths in the ER because of this. :( |

Upper NW DC update:
Took a walk around my neighborhood, seems like half the homes (including myself) still have power. Trees are down all over, the fire department is going through my neighborhood clearing the streets block by block of downed power lines. My neighbor's house came within 3 feet of being hit directly by a falling tree, thankfully all it did was pull down some gutters and roof tiles and landed in the yard. Tree took out her power line too. Even those that do still have power, Comcast phone/internet seems to be down neighborhood wide. (verizon gods shine upon me today) |

Silver Spring, MD and still no power. Pretty much lost it the second the storm hit us. And I just know I'll be one of the last people to get power back since that's what happened during the Snowpocalypse and the heat wave last year (or whenever that was). Hopefully it doesn't thunderstorm later today.

Capital City of Virginia here. The count of people who lost power crept up to almost 150K last night, maybe even higher unconfirmed. My lights flickered but didnt go off and they got the amount of powerless folks back down. We were hit by a tornado on Monday for the first time in decades too, and many power stations were still under repair from that.

This is some grade A bullshit. Rains about one hour last night and the fucking wind blew trees all over my driveway. I had to saw them up and throw them into the woods. Power is out and it is about 100 degrees outside. Starbucks had a mile long line, power is out everywhere.

I'm in WV and the whole area has no power. Parkersburg, WV, Belpre and Marietta, OH. No traffic lights, all stores closed, zero power in the cities and water apparently may be out soon too.
From what I understand it may be as long as five days before power is restored. :/ My office has a generator and it and hospitals are the only thing I've seen with power around here. Trees down on city streets and houses all over. I watched a healthy, thick tree get ripped in half by the force of the wind in my backyard. Pretty crazy. |

Oh cool. My cousin lives in Crownsville.
I have a bunch of relatives without power across MD. I'm pretty surprised mine didn't go out besides the two flickers last night. I live sort of in the woods so all it takes is a branch hitting a power line and I'm screwed. Or some dumb fuck crashing into a poll... that seems to happen over so often. |
