They only really make one Star Ocean per generation anyway. Assuming the series were still alive they probably wouldn't have much to say about it right now.
tri-Ace doesn't seem to have anyone willing to help them out with a big console game though, so I'm doubtful SOV (or VP3) are happening... |

That tech demo they released looked really promising. Would be a great place to start a reboot from.
I really dont understand why Japanese developers arent taking advantage of the success of the PS3 in Japan, heck both the HD systems have done well overseas as well. |

Is it wrong I'd take a sequel of SO4 just to laugh at the ludicrous story & dialogue? The gameplay was great, and the characters had me rolling from the surreal absurdity of everything going on. Wouldn't pay more than $30 for it, but yeah, I'll take my nappy time 'kay?

Still don't get the decision to put it on the 360 first lol. Was that MS paying? Was that a SE decision?

It failed and now they serve largely as an outsourcing house. |

It didn't do well compared to what?
Anyhow. I still liked SO4. Characters and writing were kind of bad, but the general plot had a nice setup, graphics were nice and colorful, and the battle system was top notch. Thats the most important bits. It seems like SE is trying to get themselves straightened out presently, maybe after that happens we'll see talk of a new game. |

At this point I would take VP3 on 3DS.
I've given up hope though. |

I hold the same opinions as you do regarding 3, 2, and 1, and I thought 4 was terrible outside of the battle system. First time I found a cast of characters and writing so bad that I couldn't even force myself to finish a game.

I think that if Platinum can still do it, Triace probably can too. But that might be too hopeful.

Around the time of announcement, MS was still pushing pretty hard in Japan. The Great RPG Rush of 2008, I believe it's called where they had Tales of Vesperia, Last Remnant and SO4 all announced for the system.

SO4 is the worst game I've ever played. Leave that series alone forever.

But also, on a side note, why does tri-ace help SE? Do they signed a contract or something? Because they actually helped a lot on XIII-2 iirc. They cant release a game by themselves anymore? |
