Guardians of the Galaxy by Bendis....eh.
Abnett and Lanning not being on the book sucks since they are what made that book work so well.

Reached for comment Tuesday morning, a spokesperson for the publisher responded to inquiries about the veracity of the scanned EW image and reputed article this way: "Check out this weeks EW for more details."

Adding: "And clarify that the Joe Q image isn't the cover of any team book as it's reported."

It appears the image and article details are legitimate. Stay tuned.

I'm really worried that they are going to gut the "Cosmic Marvel" universe. A&L did such a great job in creating a structure in that disjointed mess and making it relevant again.

They did the same thing to Morrison's New X-Men. Didn't change the fact that it still exists as a perfect, stand alone work. They can tear the whole thing down (and it looks like they are) and it won't change the fact that A/L's long form story exists.

Agreed, though I think there was many more great stories to tell in that environment.

Let me ask you a question though... in your opinion would a complete reboot (aka DCU 52) be better for the MU at this point, rather than trying to fit in what are starting to look like a huge number of changes into existing continuity?

Personally speaking, not at all. I didn't realize how significant continuity was to me until a few months into New 52. I'd decided I was going to wait until the Digital versions were $2 and then read the books I wanted to then. Did that for a month, sort of forgot to for a few months and then realized I had no connection to the universe anymore. I'll still follow great creators on DC books like Morrison, but I'm done with the universe. Which is sad. There was a time between Infinite Crisis and 52 and One Year Later that I bought almost every DC book. It was such an exciting and well maintained universe. Then it turned to shit creatively and then they just scrapped the whole thing. So I left.

Marvel is super good at maintaining the core threads of its continuity, on a character level. I would hate to see them New 52 it and try and, like, put different people in Reed's space ship for a new FF or make Bruce Banner Spider-Man or some shit. As much as this Nick Fury Jr thing is lame, I'd much prefer that then just resetting everything and introducing a new one. At least they're committed to maintaining this universe.

Yes there are always new Avengers but that makes sense. They've built that team as a recruiting organization that protects the world, so it's not crazy that Wolverine and Cyclops might hate each other but still work together if Kang wanted to take another dump on the time space continuum.

tl,dr: Marvel Rules.

It really makes me wonder how long this was in the pipeline, because this makes a lot more sense with the stuff announced and released in Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3. A year ago, Rocket Racoon, Nova and Hawkeye being in the game made no sense. NOW, it's brilliant, but it feels too little too late. Feels like the type of thing that kept getting pushed more and more and more until the Avengers' success prompted some sort of undue change.

Personally, I don't know why you need to have a response to the movies' success. If that stuff starts spilling into the source material, there will be no where for the fans of what's actually been going on to go. This seems to be moving super fast for something that's had inklings of evidence scattered around in various forms for so long.

They're not rebooting anything though. It's just your average creative changes that happen every few months, only all happening at once.

Yeah, conceptually it's really awesome. I'm guessing at the end of this, they'll all shake hands and commit themselves to the greater good, which would be nice.

And also, the idea that if somehow Cyclops snaps out of his craziness and gets along with Wolverine somehow negates the existence of the Jean Gray school is bonkers. It'd be amazing if Scott comes around to the benefit of the idea.

I'm not super optimistic about it. Bendis's team books for the past several years have been kinda lousy.

I tend to stray away from the major superhero comics of Marvel and stick mostly with Punisher. I hope they don't change the current direction of that one because I am loving it.

I am also glad to see that Guardians of the Galaxy are getting some love again.

This is terrible news for GotG and Nova. Those two series without abnett and lanning just will not be the same at all. I am not saying no other writers could do stories with those characters but Bendis and Loeb of all people? Really? This is not going to end well. Sure some people could say "at least we are getting more stories with them" but if those stories are poor and shoddily written why would I want them?

Also Nova is guaranteed to not be Richard Rider with Loeb at the helm which not only makes little sense but also completely ignores one of the best characters of the comic stories...and the -real- Nova. Considering the stories will likely suck though maybe it's good that Richie "gets" to sit out for now so someone better can deal with his story later. This new Nova is still shitting over the Nova name and concept in general though.

Marvel's 616 universe needed a black Nick Fury, because movie Nick Fury is Samuel L. Jackson, so they created an illegitimate black son for white Nick Fury, poked out his eye and shaved his head, and made him an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Oh, and his best friend is Agent Coulson too. Oh, and it turns out his actual birth name is Nicholas Fury, Jr.

"Who killed Galactus" murder mystery starring All Your Favorite cosmic characters. In the end it will turn out that *spins the Wheel of Characters* young Franklin Richards did it because Reed has been too aloof recently and Franklin doesn't have anyone to play with.

It's not U-Nick, it's one of 616-Nick's sons. It's pretty blatant but whatever, and 616-Nick has been established as having kids. Also, unless I missed something, it's about the only way to get a Nick Fury openly in charge of SHIELD without something really ridiculous after what happened in Secret Warriors.

...In what will surely be seen as the publisher's response to DC Comics' New 52 which set it sights on new and lapsed readers with issue #1 jumping on points, Marvel NOW is being promised as an easy entry point into the classic Marvel U. Throughout October, Marvel will launch a number of brand new series -- often more than one a week -- with additional new series and relaunches for some classic books rolling out through February of next year...

...Aside from the core creative changes, all books branded with the Marvel NOW banner will feature a full slate of digital bells and whistles as part of the "Marvel ReEvolution" products that have played a part in "AvX's" launch. For example, every Marvel NOW first issue will feature AR enhanced recaps embedded in their covers, and the books will all carry a code for a free digital download of the issue through the Marvel App.

In addition, the publisher is promising other creative shakeups outside the shuffling of their big name talent on their big name franchises. Marvel NOW books will feature new "cinematic" cover designs, and their characters will sport redesigned costumes, many shown off in a new piece by Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada, a scan of which appeared on the CBR forums in the early hours of this morning.
