Get rid of that pop-up. And make it 60fps. And 1080p.

Then I'll buy it for 800.

This is the original game that came out for Saturn and then released on PS2 later. We're excited for that. Most people agree that the Wii game wasn't very good.

In the same way Rocket Knight HD was based on Rocket Knight Adventures.

Google the japan only Sega Ages NiGHTS release for PS2. This is that, but in HD.

In parts, it was. However, the Saturn version was more like a racing game where the amount of time you have is set, while the number of laps you can do is not. I go into detail about it, here. The Wii version completely changed this focus; the circuits still loop, but apparently now you're chasing a large bird, who drops a key when you catch it, and once you have the key and finish the circuit, that circuit is over (you cannot just go over the goal and do a new lap, like you can in the original, because there are giant chains blocking your way).

Not to mention the added platforming segments and story cutscenes; the original entirely lacks those. I mean, you can play as one of the kids if you really want to, but it's really not the best way to go; you're heavily risking running into the clock that ends your game instantly, and you move so slowly that it's impossible to build up any chains, and as such get good grades for the level. It's really intended for recovering from botched runs as the titular character.

And I was young and had my mind set in the latter. I'll give it another shot without that baggage.
IIRC nights didn't get lukewarm reviews at all.

Also the comparisons came up since it was assumed the PSone and Saturn couldn't support full 3D worlds with all the hype surrounding SM64.

Why has the OP made the thread title 'Nights into Dreams HD Collection Announced'? I'm not having a go, I'm genuinely intrigued as to where they've plucked that from because I've just looked all over the announcement page and cant find anything regarding this being a collection?

Sadly, I really doubt it. Shame because its possibly my favourite Sonic Team game.

Burning Rangers wasn't that popular, and it didn't have a Sega Ages release on PS2. This version of NiGHTS looks like it is based on the PS2 version.

Because the OP was in a huge rush to be the first one to post the OFFICIAL NEOGAF THREAD and didn't have time to actually read the news.

Honestly, for the purposes of this game, the 360 pad would very much suffice. The game only really uses the left analog stick, one of the face buttons, and two triggers (rarely).

I remember figuring out that the timer in the original game didn't really start counting until you merged with Nights for the first time when the level started, so I often wandered around the level by foot grabbing a fuckton of orbs before starting the first track. Took me ages, but I could easily get S rankings that way. It was also fun to find lots of easter eggs placed around the levels.

As a bonus, if you spend too much time wandering around as a kid, the replay will break and not really follow your actions after some point. You could actually fail the level if the kids were caught by the clock during a broken replay.

Thank you SEGA for NiGHTS ! At first, when I saw the pic from Sticky Canyon, I thought it is a new stage for the upcoming Sonic and SEGA-All stars Racing. SEGA caught me off guard.

I hope that the SEGA Heritage logo, means that more SEGA goodies are coming ;-). I want really bad : VF2 (excellent choice for the VF's 20th Anniversary next year), SEGA Rally, Panzer Dragoon HD Collection and Last Bronx.
