depends on how big the glass piece is and how big you are. generally surgery won't be performed unless there's signs of something actually happening. so unless it was a big piece or it had sharp edges you should be able to just wait it out and hope nothing happens. regardless, go see or call a doctor and get a professional opinion.

One time on vacation when I was young I was given a virgin margarita at our beach house. I knocked it over and the glass shattered. I saw 3 large pieces of glass and though it was a clean break so I started to slurp up drink and all its crushed ice. Upon swallowing I noticed I had little shards of glass in my mouth. I did nothing about it and lived with no problems and still don't know what to make of it to this day.

OP, you'll pass it like anything else. The chances of it doing any damage whatsoever is slim. At the worst (incredibly unlikely) you'll have a little bleeding around... your bottom. Even this could be ignored, probably. That said, if that was to happen, make an appointment with your GP, he'll just tell you to go home, more than likely, but whatever puts your mind at ease.
