Is Kojima gonna show the Fox Engine at Comi-Con? [Up: Something shown behind doors]
#1
I'll start by saying I have no insider info or anything about Kojima Productions's plan for Comicon, but I have noticed a number of hints that lead me to think that there's a high chance they will show something at this week's Comi-Con. So here's what I've collected so far:
1. Kojima in Paris (see my post here http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=473812). During an interview for Gameblog.fr, Kojima said they won't show the Fox Engine during E3 (and they didn't indeed), but he added that he wants to show it this July, to coincide with the original Metal Gear's 25th anniversary (it came out July 7th 1986). 2. San Diego's Comic-Con is in July (12th-15th). 3. Kojima and Imaizumi just flew from Tokyo to LA today. 4. Kojima tweeted this:

and this:
Quote:
Which clearly means that he's presenting something (his staff brought him some last minute data at the airport), and it's something important because of the way he said he's gonna go fight against the rest of the world (rejoining the idea that his Project Ogre is gonna shock a lot of people?) 5. Imaizumi tweeted this:
Quote:
Which made me think that maybe this won't be a public presentation, and that they're only gonna show their tech to a special someone in LA. But then I asked him about it and he replied this:
Quote:
Which reassured me a bit and made me think that they will make a public announcement later this week. So there you go, that's all I got, but I'm pretty sure that they're having a big presentation at Comic-Con. My bets on what they will show? A short tech demo of the Fox Engine, nothing game related, just with random assets. And then, they will show a bunch of goods related to the 25th anniversary (we already know that they're making an orchestral medley CD of the best tracks from the games, and they also teased a Fox Hound bento box). In any cases, I'm excited, and I hope we'll get something new by the end of the week :) TL;DR: Kojima promised to showed Fox Engine in July. We're in July, and he's at Comic-con this week with presentation files to show to the world, so GET HYPED :P

He clearly said during that interview "I will show the Fox Engine in July". And he is going to be at Comic-Con this week, in July, with last minute presentation files from his staff in his bag, ready to be shown to the world... Is it really that much to connect the dots???

In other news, the release date for that new METAL GEAR 25th ANNIVERSARY METAL GEAR MUSIC COLLECTION (http://www.konamistyle.jp/item/71841) was pushed back to August, 22. Maybe this is an indication of them taking this out while timely coinciding with other announcements or event, like they did with the previous similar product (http://www.konamistyle.jp/item/40348). |

Yeah but I'm betting on some new but similar footage. In the same interview where he promised July, he said he wants to show the engine just by itself, at first, so I don't think we're gonna see any real game footage this time.

Fox Engine is Koji-Pro's new engine, which is being sourced out to other Konami studios (PES, for example). It will be multi-platform - 360, PS3, PC, and possibly the Vita. Has been worked on since 2010. Kojima seems to have two projects in development on this engine - Project Ogre, and another. Very few details about either, Ogre is meant to be challenging and controversial to the extent he says it could force him to leave the industry (hyperbole), maybe open world.

I would root for a remastering in HD, but not a remake. Let them focus on Metal Gear Solid 5, and let Bluepoint remaster TWIN SNAKES. But they cannot unfortunately, as the Twin Snakes belong exclusively to Nintendo. I'm positive Nintendo will re-release the Twin Snakes remastered in HD on the Wii-U (they missed that chance with Wii, GCN 480P to Wii 480p lol), don't worry, you just need to be a Nintendo consumer as well. And I mean... Well... Who isn't? Metal Gear Rising and Metal Gear Solid 5 (Or Peace Walker 2, the New Fox Engine is able to run very smoothly on the PSVita) are the future. I love Hideo, Hideo, Hideo. |

Oh boy. I've just got on the hype train. Next stop- Comic Con.
Edit: thought you meant Metal Gear, as in the original game. Would still love an MGS1 remake though.
