I think the emphasis on Crazymoogle's comment is that most teams will DRAFT 4 running backs. Not that they'll necessarily carry them long-term. And drafting that way does make sense because extra TEs/Defense/Kickers will always be available on the wire. Don't be like me last season and draft 2 Tight Ends and then start Lance Kendricks over Gronk which lost me my Week 1 matchup by a mere handful of points. Don't be cute with starting personnel because some schlub has a decent game or two against 3rd string defenders during the preseason. <slaps head repeatedly>

True, but last year you might've just went 2 TE if you had the ability. You really liked Kendricks.

You're not necessarily wrong, but given the current roster setup, I'd imagine you'd want your bench to be this: WR-WR-RB-QB-W/R/T That final slot there could be another WR or a TE, but in a large league value is still lost very quickly so I think you draft for value. If I can get a top 40 RB (Ryan Grant, Peyton Hillis, Toby Gerhart, etc. all qualified as that last year) I may very well do it over a top 70 WR (Arrelious Benn, Brian Hartline, etc) that is functionally just waiver fodder. It's very likely that 4th RB will be dropped due to waiver motility but in the draft you are looking for perks first. I think guys like S-H just won't even be played under the current structure (admittedly a big improvement over last year's dregs!)

I dunno... WRs mostly get picked for KR/PR duties over RBs, so for that last W/R/T spot... do I want a 2nd TE I can flex, a WR who may go 2/35/0 but get me KR/PR points, or a very late round RB?

I guess what I'm saying is if you pick 3 halfway decent RBs, you'll have to get them before Round 7... you're going to risk having poor scoring balance from the rest of the roster, though it depends on your pick/amount of people I guess.

But then again I usually draft a QB in Round 1, picked Vick last year, and got reprimanded by management so what do I know?

I'm always plotting out 3-4 different draft strategies in advance due to the unknown... would be a huge timesaver to just be able to settle on one knowing my draft position ahead of time.

I agree with knowing the Draft order ahead of time. Actually able to do mocks realistically and have a solid strategy going in.

Well, there is. But it involves using something other than Yahoo to set the order.

We actually have a tool that does just that in our keeper league; it's pretty important as we have a top 4 draft lottery every year.

I'm not talking about mystery draft this time. I mean during the draft, you get vultured out of Rothelisberger but next round you pick a RB another team wants. maybe a trade would be acceptable there. Also, last year I was kinda stuck in a situation where I didn't like my pick at #7. I couldn't draft Brees (too early) and the good RBs I wanted were gone. I already thought the Vick Manifesto was interesting so I went Vick. If I could trade a draft pick I probably would've traded that pick for say, a 2 and a 3rd or 4th.

I'm fine with any buy-in rate but I'm not keen on spreading the winnings out to the consolation bracket UNLESS you can adjust the waiver order during the playoff rounds that everyone in the main bracket gets first crack at free agents on the wire.

I hate the idea of the consolation bracket for a much smaller prize effectively peeling out all of the plum pickups during Weeks 14-16.

It's the invite system. Cloudy has to go remove the unused teams. Yahoo by default reserves all of the slots for invites to the original team owners, but the commish has to manually choose to send the invite.

Sounds increasingly like if he's not on PUP he could be getting limited work for awhile. ESPN's injury guru also was pretty strong in warning people how much time it takes to come back from ACL work.

Mendenhall is undraftable. He'll be on PUP and then play rusty as hell after. Steelers RB situation is terrible. A lot of fantasy writers are onboard the Redman train but it wouldn't shock me to see Dwyer or Rainey take the job after a single good week.

That's why I don't get. Why is AP still draft-able yet Mendy undraft-able? Didn't Mendy hurt his earlier?

It's funny, when the ESPN rankers came to the case of Rashard Mendenhall, nobody hesitated; they ruled him basically worthless in redraft leagues for '12 because of his torn ACL. But Mendy's injury happened just one week after AP's.
