To some degree if you look at any blockbuster movie and dissect it enough it falls apart. |

At some point, if it isn't so blindingly obvious that it just ruins the movie, you need to just focus on the themes and the story. And it also helps to remind yourself that not every little thing needs to be explained; you could just as easily be complaining that a film is slow and boring because it lingers on the details far too much. I didn't need to see how Bruce got home from the prison. He's Batman. Let's leave it at that and let the movie keep moving forward. Remember when we all complained about the Hong Kong scene in TDK?

I like mindless action, but I like when it's backed up by some sort of emotion. Raid achieved that, Avengers didn't. |

The acting is a bit hard to compare since they were definitely going for different styles. I got more of a Dick Tracey vibe in the Burton films. But I will disagree big time that Nolan nailed Batman. The suit was far superior and the fighting style was better but fucking hell his Batman was god awful otherwise. The voice was terrible, he kept getting his ass kicked, he didn't have the same fear factor that Burtons Batman did, and he never really seemed to have everything figured out (outside of a few moments). Even the mob guy said the baddies were wise to his act and weren't taking him very seriously. How long was he Batman up until that point? Under a year? And they were already laughing at him? He was a joke. I really didn't like his take on Batman. He came off as a bumbling buffoon way too often. His Bruce was pretty great though but that was just Bale being Bale. Vastly preferred Nolans take on the world outside of Batman though. His secondary characters were all handled beautifully. Alfred, Gordon, BLAKE, Harvey. All handled very well. They were just kind of "there" in the Burton films. Gordon was just some fat guy.

the mob was petrified of Batman, did you not see TDK?! people didn't want to do business in Gotham, they were desperate and turned to the Joker for help. Burton's Batman had him get beta up and shot! and you had guys fighting him on equal footing, and they took apart his Batmobile via remote control by the fucking Penguin! since when was the Penguin an engineering genius?! some security system there. |

This scene alone is more Batman than anything in Burton's films, which I love by the way, but they are but a hair on Nolans arsecrack

Not sure if this has been posted yet or not.
Batman (1989) sold 10 million more tickets than TDKR. Crazy stuff. http://www.movies.com/movie-news/dar...kets-sold/9267 |

Looks like I will have to rewatch this movie with a friend who was away. I can't believe I'm saying this but I really don't want to watch it again. A Nolan Batman film, and I've watched BB and TDK at least 3 to 4 times each. :/
At least I'll convince him not to go for Imax. I can't endure the ear torture that was the shitty audio mix. |

1. Batman 89 was the first Batman movie in 23 years. TDKR was part of a trilogy, and months before the movie was released, it was already dismissed by the masses. 2. Batman 89 had The Joker played by a well established actor, Jack Nicholson. Who's Tom Hardy? Who's Bane? |

How do you back up hype? Who is the official tracker of how anticipated something is? I guess we can check google searches, but I don't know it'd apply here with the aurora shooting being a national story. Many people with no interest whatsoever in TDKR would search for that when looking for the story. For the most part, I always thought hype was something anecdotal.

Viral marketing for TDK was also much better received last time around. Hype was much higher for TDK. |
