And not the fun borderline anti-heroes like in God of War or Grand Theft Auto.

I just killed my second beast, and after two years of owning it and a two month hiatus I think I'm finally feeling what the makers are going for. It's crazy just how big it is, I forgot just how impressive last gen could be.

On topic though I though I would be slaying dangerous monsters. But the way these things bleed and cry is just pitiful.

Do you mean the 13th colossus, in the desert? Because if so, I agree completely.

Edit: Also, just want to add that I absolutely love this game, but I can never play it for more than two colossi at a time because it can get pretty emotionally draining.

They should've let you pray at the bodies of the colossi just before getting tendril'd.

And play ICO! 3/4s of the game is just pleasant puzzle-platforming, then shit gets so real.

I feel like the colossi were more aggressive in the HD version. Not... so much in their overall behavior, oddly, but I felt like I had a much harder time climbing on to some of them and was being shaken off far more than on the PS2 version.

It's weird. When I first played it back in 2005, I loved the epic battles, but was disappointed about there being nothing more to it than bosses, with no other enemies to fight in between while working your way towards each encounter.

Not until I played it again later did it really hit me with what it is doing. The isolation and the atmosphere, the feeling of being a weakling human in a desparate attempt to blindly bring back someone you love, no matter the cost. And ultimately, feeling a sense of sadness for each Colossi you bring down. The battles are so epic... but then it just feels so wrong.

An amazing game that took me more than one play through before it hit me like a ton of bricks. I went ahead and downloaded the HD version off PSN a few days ago as well. Looking forward to playing it yet again. Nothing else like it.

Yeah, it's different, something about the distance he can grab fur from or something. It's not as good.

It's been years since I played it but I think at the end of the game it is revealed that all the colossi were big bullies back at colossi high and they killed the hero's dad who was also a colossi or something so it's sort of like you're getting revenge. Pretty weird, I dunno.

Have you seen how big and ugly those guys are. You are doing the world a favor by killing them all. Nothing evil about it.

Most of them try to stomp on your cute horse! What did your horse ever do to them?? What kind of good colossus would try to kill your innocent horse?

Stop telling OP that that's how it's supposed to be. That's kind of a spoiler.

Given the pace he's playing it, it doesn't seem like he was comfortable with it. Maybe knowing it's intentional will help him power through. It is kind of a spoiler, then again, so is the thread title for anyone who hasn't played it but are tempted to try 'Sony's Zelda'.

It's certainly not going to completely tarnish the game.

its not really a matter of one being better than the other i was just speaking that ico is alot harder to appreciate unless you play it for its entirety the game has a very slow start and at first glace menu/fonts lack polish and controls are very clumsy and clunky. sotc just starts with guns ablaze epic boss fight one after the other, incredibly well paced game.

One of the best games ever, and that feeling you have is only a part of why its so amazing. I felt really depressed while playing SoTC. And not in a good way, looking back though it really is a unique experience.

Ico and SotC couldn't be a better example of companion pieces, aside from any canonical connections, the two games are two halves of a Zelda game, just the dungeon puzzles, and just the overworld and bosses. Regardless of which is better, to play one is to require the other, more or less.

Finished ICO years ago. Great game.

I though SOTC was gonna be a little more like that than just aesthetics.

Also does the collection finally translate what the light girl says after you beat it? That was some bullshit that it was left out of the American release.

The HD Collection is the Euro version of both games, you can read what Yorda says.
