Which non-video game IP would work best as a game?
#1
Someone mentioned The Warriors (PS2) in a thread here recently. I thought of how awesome that game was wondered what other IPs could have the best video game adaptation that doesn't already exist.
Which would actually make best use of the medium? I'd love a "The Wire" game but it might not be more than a cross between Heavy Rain and L.A. Noire gameplay-wise. Also, try to say how it would work as a game, even if you're just giving an example of another game/other games that it would play similar to. Like, I want a Kiki's Delivery Service game that has Ni no Kuni's art-style with the town having similar feeling of scale as Just Cause 2's Panau (even though the city form Kiki's isn't that big, I'd want it to feel expansive).

Sucker Punch should have been a video game to begin with. But an adaptation after the movie probably wouldn't work that great, after you've seen how it plays out. Unless they did it like a sequel, new girls, new plot, all new crazy scenes based on things other than giant samurais and steampunk world wars etc. It would be sweet even in low budget form, a la Bikini Zombie Slayers.

The Old Kingdom by Garth Nix
The Abhorsen's bells + charter magic + sword play, and the universe of the series would make a great The Witcher 2 style RPG. Hellsing Play as Alucard, Devil May Cry style gun juggling plus various vampire powers. Plenty of interesting enemies to fight, plenty of ghouls for fodder. Cowboy Bebop (I know there was a PSX and PS2 games) But imagine a game that combined Batman: Arkham style brawling, cover based 3rd person shooting, stealth, and flight sections. The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini (Movie game doesn't count) RPG where you play as a new Dragon Rider, ether set after the books or a prequel. Sword fighting + magic based ground combat, with dragon based combat in the air. If done right could be amazing. |
