Naughty Dog changes their tune on Uncharted 3's Season Pass, upcoming DLC costs extra
#1
So, Uncharted 3 has/had their own version of season pass called Fortune Hunters Club:

This is what they recently posted about an upcoming update and upcoming DLC:

I'm sure they will spin it somehow(or not give a shit) but god I can never trust another word Naughty Dog says. edit: Per Arne's request, in March Naughty Dog clarified that the FHC would be ending.

If anything it should be an anti-season pass thread. DLC can be fine, I don't think there's been more than 1 actual worthwhile season pass (walking dead's). It's a ridiculous concept in most cases too. Pay the ever trustworthy major publishers money ahead of time and pray they make decent content.

I usually don't bother with DLC, but hearing this is kind of lame. I got some of the dlc for Uncharted 2, but I never really completed all of it. Uncharted 3 was awesome but it didn't have me playing it as much after clearing it on crushing, the multiplayer just didn't hold me as much.

Especially if you buy something expecting it to be fixed later. |

Doesn't "upcoming" mean something? I don't know, it seems pretty clear that this was supposed to be set for a certain period of time, even with the exact number of DLC items being outlined.

Oh and by the by. Of their 4 map packs, 2 packs were redone maps from Uncharted 2, 1 alleged map pack was a single co-op mission that entirely reused assets from Uncharted 1, and the final "map pack" had finally four new maps. Best season pass ever. |

Naughty Dog will issue a statement saying there is nothing wrong with their season pass promise, before consulting with the NeoGAF community and changing the wording on their DLC pricing and offering a discount, while maintaining there was nothing wrong in the first place.

![]() There were 14 already. Then 7 'upcoming' packs? This looks like 21 packs to me. Were they not included? |

Ah Naughty Dog, never cease to amaze.
When I booted up Uncharted 3 multiplayer earlier this month I couldn't wait to use Flynn. To my surprise, he, as well as every other villain worth using was DLC. Infinity Ward got so much shit for including one remake into their map packs, and to see some people defend Naughty Dog is just insane. Almost all of the DLC is just reskinned stuff from other Uncharted games. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if The Last of Us had it's ending held back as DLC. |

You're right TommyT, I'm not interested in apologists.
What has happened here, I believe, is that internally they had only planned for the currently released DLC, they weren't going to release any more. So now that they feel like gouging people out of more of their money, they've gone back on their word.

Oh, I see now.
All of the current (7) and any upcoming (7). Poorly worded indeed.
By the way, I hate season passes and have never bought one.

Yup, poorly worded. Even if it was worded correctly, it just makes season passes an unattractive set of package (like we didn't know this already)
Most of the content in the season pass was mostly Uncharted 2 content too, right? Now that they have new content, you have to pay for it separately... |

The FHC left a sour taste in my mouth. I thought it was a safe buy considering U2's awesome map packs, but I guess I should have known better when they launched U3 with U2 skins I had already purchased as U3 DLC and counted avatar packs as FHC DLC pack. Never buying another season pass without fully knowing what the dev's plans are beforehand.

That to me seems like they promised total 14 packs, so when that was written, you'd download whatever was there, and the upcoming stuff to fill up the 14.
Noone ever promises to give you literally everything they'd make in the future wording it like that. While unclear wording, I see this more as a pricing mistake that Amazon sometimes does, and then goes back and cancels order for people who tried to take advantage of said mistake.

Meh, doesn't really affect me. I bought the FHC pass and enjoyed all of the content. If they are releasing new content that goes past this, I'll make the decision to pay or not pay. This isn't some difficult choice where not buying it renders your game useless or something. Don't really see what the problem is.

The DLC for Uncharted 3 was extremely disappointing anyway. Character skins and redone maps really shouldn't be taking up a large chunk of a season pass people buy - Not only that but it all felt rushed, lazy and worst of all lacking in the trophies department.

This. I think it's great that Sony lets their devs do their own thing, but come on. The Vita needs more stuff to really make it shine. Something from ND would do that, instead they made another PS3 game (which I do want), but I want something from them on the Vita.
