This seemed like his big opportunity to get back to the top of the industry. I still can't believe he quit a Robert Kirkman project.

Nah, Kirkman killed it because he wanted (for whatever reason) a book that looked like a 90s Liefeld comic, whereas Liefeld was only contributing "pencils" that were actually glorified layouts, and leaving most of the artistic heavy lifting to his "inker."

I'd wager that he had fashion designers' sketches as the sole reference for the female body at the time, or something just as conceptual. That would explain his proportions and feet.

I've been getting bored with most superhero series in the past few years. Unless it has exceptional writing, I'll often drop the book after an arc or two. Especially annoying when they force you to buy several issues a month just to get the complete story.

No loss for DC, that's for sure.

I do get the impression that most writers would prefer to do creator-owned material, but working for DC or Marvel making superhero fast food pays the bills better. A few even do the 9 to 5 making superhero tripe but also will do side jobs with other companies doing their own thing.

I hope there's a shift in the market. There is the possibility with other companies to make indie comics, so good for Liefeld even if I think his work is trash. I hope more creators would break away from the big 2 because I would like to see a more balanced industry where superhero isn't such a dominating genre.
