No, but you can buy digital download cards from brick-and-mortar or online retailers which may or may not sell for less than the boxed game.

EDIT: you WILL get double the Club Nintendo coins for buying digitally, though, at least in NA.

My heart wanted the gold box so now It's being shipped to me, but my brain is telling me how stupid I am as I spent the same amount on it but I have to wait a week to play it.

I may go digital only with Nintendo games in future so I don't have to wait. Animal Crossing much like Oni Training is going to be great to have on the system 24/7.

Reading this topic is just getting me more hyped. :p

K, will definitely buy digital then. The golden box does looks really nice, but I don't value that over convenience.

Can't play it right now, but after she's done I'll go have a check and let you know if you still haven't found it by then.

Either way, I didn't have much trouble finding it so it shouldn't be very hidden. I guess you've tried a few times already?

Edit: Wait, you mean the tower? Argh... yeah, I believe I'm missing that one too (the only one missing in World 1).

Honestly, even in Japan, it doesn't work so great everywhere. I almost never get streetpasses in my town, and I get one or two occasionally when I ride a train to the capital of my prefecture. Most of my streetpasses come from visits I've made to Osaka and Nagoya.

The first. I'll skip this and rather get the home console game again. Even if this is supposed to be better than the snorefest NSMBDS, it feels too cheap with the whole super rehashing going on, while the ,,gimmick'' should have been a new Wario Land.

Canon

Good:
-New elements just as level 1 starts, seems like the game knows youve already beaten NSMB in DS and starts with a higher level than the majority of Marios, something like Lost Levels but not so hardcore.
-Also some new a cool enemy twists. Also some harder (a little, but harder nothenless) koopalings boss battles from the get a go.
-Makes you want to run the majority of the time, but you have to calculate parts were stopping and collecting gives you a huge coin bonus.
-The lightning affects and particles of the 2nd castle in each world. Also its music (the best one form the old NSMB)
-The return of Reznors as a boss. And its cool SMW music!

The Normal:
-Im still in the fence if the new "chorus" part added to the old music enhaces the old tracks. I think yes.

The Bad:
-The artstyle is bad, but we already knew this.
-Still too much SMB3 tributes, too little from SMW.

Much better than what I thought from all the trailers.

I've only ever had three street passes (including special event Reggie) and my 3D Land map is filled with scores from people from my friends list and also from strangers I've played against in Mario Kart 7.

It's not a true online leaderboard, but it's not local-only either.
Oh wow, I didn't even notice this, time to go and do some speedruns then.

Where are you seeing this? I'm looking right now but can only see my times and the ones on the other files.

Edit: Oh right, my other files have higher times than the people I've streetpassed.

I didn't know that. That's pretty cool. Occasionally I like competing against other's times. With NSMB2 it should be even funner going for coin totals if there is spotpass sharing.

The second star was really hard to find. I accidentally spoiled myself while reading 2ch.
1. Enter the red pipe after the checkpoint.
2. After hitting the P button, do not collect blue coins but go up quickly. The second star coin is there.

Alright, found the second medal in World 1 Tower:

Go to the checkpoint and keep going up until you find the first red pipe. There, instead of spending time picking up the blue coins, just jump up, climb and you'll find the medal there.

Edit: Wow, beaten by a minute lol

Nintendo's already shooting themselves in the foot a little bit by releasing new DS Pokemon RPGs, but to release another NSMB on DS too?

At least that's a much more achievable goal than trying to be the top among all players online. Plus there's a certain sense of satisfaction you get from beating records of people around you that online leaderboards can't replicate, at least to me. I have no motivation to even try for online leaderboards because there will always be crazy, insanely good people at the top, that's never going to change.
good thing there's such a thing as 'regional leaderboards' and 'friend leaderboards' and all other sort of leaderboards which can help your gaming ego in this regard, instead of just Nintendo being shitty at everything online as always

Right, I can appreciate that. Any significant use of the 3D or gyro? I'm asking purely from a business point of view. It will be interesting to see if this game drives 3DS sales significantly.
