Oh this is going to be interesting. Count me in, I'm up for whatever. I would suggest Barcade but that's a bar. And it's in Brooklyn.

As far as dates, I can't do this Saturday or Labor Day weekend, but other than that I should be good to go. Weekends preferred obviously.

I live Uptown so the Cloisters is really close to me. Been there a couple times, don't care too much about the Cloisters itself but Fort Tyron park is amazing. Funnily enough both times I was there was for picnics with friends.

It's far as hell from Manhattan Beach though, we definitely wouldn't be able to do both of those things in one day.

Yeah, I am pretty damn busy these days (most of my GAF browsing is done on my phone since I'm always out), and I will be out of the state from August 17-26. I'd love to hang out with everyone, though.
Bueno Señor, then maybe September then or even October. Make sure you're clear for one of those months. I don't see a GAF meet up happening during the months of November and December unless it's early in the month because of school, shopping, and whatnot.

There are natural defense points from which to snipe zombies, as well. I'd rate it at 9 for Zombie defense; 10 if their sea canons still operated.
I live ten blocks away from there. A GAF meet up in The Heights? That would be very interesting. Fort Tryon Park also has an annual Medieval Festival in late September/early October (potential future mini meet up there?).

We already went to Barcade back in the March meetup. Simply ask Mully; he had a jolly good time. ;) Besides, Brooklyn doesn't work out too well for everyone because it isn't as easily accessible as Manhattan is for the majority of Gaffers. I wouldn't mind venturing out to the outer boroughs for a meetup more often if we get tired of Manhattan.

August 25th is perfect for me. It's right before the week that school starts so this meet up will set the stage for what will be an easy yet stressful week. If it would've been on the 31st, it would have been good as well, but the frat is hosting a party on that day which I don't think I have a means of escaping (well, I would've thought of something :D).

So many ideas are getting thrown around. I wonder what will stick?

I don't know, the gates seem pretty flimsy last time I was there. Besides, I feel like we'd just be sitting ducks in the end. Zombie deathtrap.

I like the idea of Cloisters. I've never even heard of it until this thread but it sounds great.

Oh I agree. I was stating its location in Brooklyn as a negative, not a positive. Manhattan is much easier for me.

I've only been at the Cloisters once but I absolutely love it. Very beautiful European medieval works of art that are there. Would be awesome if we had a little group interested in checking it out ;3

Seems like I'll be missing this by a few days if the meet up is the 25th. Bummer too considering that I haven't been able to go to the other meets because of the whole 21+ thing. At least that won't be a problem after September. In any case, have fun guys! The park around the Cloisters is an incredible area so even if I can't attend I will second/third/whatever the recommendation. :)

Of course you can and you're welcome to bring non-Gaffers if you want. I can assure you it's not weird at all like Tashi said, but it looks like you're on board any way.

So number47 is on board as well; excellent. Now all we need are Mahonay and bob page to get in here and that's pretty much all the vets from the last couple of meet ups. I haven't heard from Wellington in a while. He's probably super busy and/or on vacation. IIRC, Slayer lives right by the park in question.

If you guys do decide to go with setting it in The Heights, then I suppose we could go to Coogan's afterwards for who ever is of age and wants to drink (well there's also the Monkey Room that's a couple of blocks away from the park but it's a lounge).

Otherwise, isn't much to do up here other than go to a ton of Dominican restaurants to watch live Bachata/Merengue Tipico bands (up in Dyckman) if you guys are curious about it. There's also karaoke in the said restaurants but again, it's mostly Spanish stuff. I'm pretty iffy about it but I've no objections to whatever you place(s) you guys decide to go with. Battery Park does sound cool seeing as I haven't been there in ages. I suppose I'll throw Riverside Park into the mix for scenery of the Hudson/GWB as well. I'm guessing that August 25th is set in stone at this point?

Argh! I'm torn between this and going to Barcade! Either meet a GAF celebrity or to Barcade. I gotta find my debit card! Unless you go to Barcade in which case, it'll be win-win for everyone.

I knew we had a traitor amid our group! So what other forum meet ups have you been to spy? /sarcasm
I'll be down for it; I just need to make sure have some dough and find my debit card.

What time is this thing at? I'm gonna be in downtown after 5. I'll be free after 6; chances are I will be walking down to 42nd. Also are drinks going to be cheap because of this event? And who the heck is moot? So many questions.

EDIT: @ Mully, you should set up a "Who's going" list pretty soon; there's a lot of people that are interested. Since this thread was done a couple of days before August, I expect the amount of people who are gonna go to snowball. I'll make two quick banners for the date/place and "Who's going" soon.

look for me I'll be there around 7ish brah, maybe PM if anything,

Well it's been scrapped so that sucks. I learned that Moot is 4chan's head honcho and at 23 years young! I'm surprised. I'm still gonna head down to 42nd after 6. I'll post in the thread when I'm around there. I'll still down a few drinks (2-3 at most so; I don't want to get drunk). You pick the place and I'm there. If you still wanna do Barcade, I'll be down for that. Note: I have a crazy 'fro going so I need a haircut badly. I'll see if I look decent. It'll be interesting to witness you give $500 first hand though. I wonder if people are gonna recognize you. Dat hat.

I will most definitely be there. I'd figure you'd be interested since you owe him a drink.

I'm slowly making my way down to Times Square while making a few stops to shoot the breeze at. I'll be there around 8ish.

I'll make the announcement post:

NYC GAF MINI MEET UP TONIGHT @Valhalla (54th and 9th; thanks Houston; my memory's rusty)@8pm or so until about 10pm.

Come out and have a few drinks with GAF's celebrity $500 tipper SethC and the first waitress who received his brother's last wish (plus wear his trademark hat). Get the exclusive insight into how her life has changed since that day before they go on tv tomorrow. It's gonna be fun! Fun! Fun! So come on down!

Back home after leaving Houston. Seth's been getting requests for interviews from the big news corporations left and right. Fox News asked for permission to use his picture for a news report that they were doing about him. ABC News and NBC News are hounding him; it's been going pretty well for him, so that's great. 100 more restaurants to eat at; 100 more waiters to go (I'm sure the number is gonna increase drastically as he keeps appearing on the news and radio).

And you heard it here first folks: the next person is going to be a waiter for sure. I'm sure he's gonna upload video of the $500 that he gave away before he went to the bar soon before he knocks out. It was nice catching up on stuff. Overall, not a bad meet up. I didn't take any pictures because my battery was low and out of respect for his mother. It was pretty chill. EviLore's business card is pretty sweet by the way. It's got two GAF shirt designs on both sides and it's thick and high quality.

Any way, I'm glad everything is going well so keep on rocking. I'm sure your brother must be incredibly proud of you. Sarah was pretty sweet in person. Maybe next time you're in town, you should give $500 to a waiter or a waitress at El Malecón. Again he'll be appearing on The Early Show tomorrow at 8AM on CBS 2 with his signature hat on. I'm gonna see if I wake up on time provided I don't go to sleep super late. Regardless of the fact, next time you're in town, there's going to be a guaranteed meet up, no questions asked and regardless if it's super cold outside.

As for Houston3000, I hope to see you the next meet up provided certain people are still going (I think they are). ;) Regardless of the fact, it was nice seeing you. I'm always here if you want to talk or go have a few drinks. I'll see you in the dating threads otherwise and in a few gaming threads.

That said, I'm looking forward to the GAF meetup now more than ever. It is gonna good. Hopefully, it'll be fun so let's make it a good one.
