It's the end of the Zone as we know it folkes. They won't even touch the atmosphere or the quality of the world that GSC created. We can't have nice things anymore :(

So, if they decide to run STALKER 2 on idTech 5, does that mean it won't have the crazy dynamic lighting effects of the original?
Edit: I worry because RAGE was stuck in perpetual day due to the engine's inability to have a day/night cycle. What kind of STALKER game would that be? http://hothardware.com/printarticle.aspx?articleid=1716

None of those games match up to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s original gameplay style/vision. Thats why people are worried. |

No that was a decision made specifically for Rage, not the engine. It was basically required to maintain 60 fps on consoles. The engine itself has plenty of lighting tech.

You think Bethesa would take note on how hugely successfull DayZ has done and go that route with the spirit of what made STALKER SOC/CS/COP so much fun? The only good saving grace I can think of is Beths' good history for SDK and mod support.

consoles are the barrier here, so I don't get my hopes up. But it would make TONS of money in CIS countries basically because you can't pirate the game like that and people will be forced to buy it. And they will buy it in droves. Western countries will buy it too.
