This test is called the "Moose Test" because it is meant to represent a moose walking onto a highway when you're going 42.5 MPH and suddenly trying to swerve around it (but not stay in the opposite lane where presumably on-coming traffic is heading).

Found it! Chrysler claims the Jeep was overloaded capacity in that test. Chrysler's corporate press release states that the test is "invalid" because the vehicle was overloaded beyond its stated load capacity. A separate blog on a Chrysler website says it was overloaded by 110 pounds. So hard to say. |

I've had 3-4 incidents over the past 2 years where I was in a near collision with people inching out into the street ahead of me. Each time, I completely locked up, did not hit the brakes. My mind and body just locked up. I could not respond in a good way. If they would have continued, I would have been in a bad accident. Unless you practice, you can't expect to 'do the right thing.' |
