Anyone see this story about the South Korean fencer? Fucking hell, so sad and unjustified, but also the sheer stupidity of it all and the officials not trying to set things right, but instead making things much worse :/

I've seen a Brit get a medal!

Go Christine! Wasn't really expecting one today.

Weird seeing a slver medallist doing a lap of honour, but understandable.

Some runners were purposedly abusing the first false start to ruin the concentration of others.

I saw BBC documentary a few weeks ago about the 100m. They say the runners who come through at the end aren't slowing as much, but everyone slows, and if they aren't slowing at all they're probably doped up.

Too often modern athletic clothing is worn simply as a fashion garment. However, for those individuals involved in intense and/or competitive activity, the literature would suggest that compression clothing may provide both a performance and a recovery aid. The mechanisms that mediate any performance gains appear to be related to a considerable number of variables including enhanced proprioception, reduced muscle oscillation, enhanced lactate removal and/or psychological factors (ie subjects like the feel of the garments and perceive that they can improve performance).

Why is Luke Campbell guaranteed at least a bronze if he's only just won his QF? Is there some quirk of boxing I'm not aware of?
