Tom Waits interview that inspired Heath Ledger's Joker in TDK #1

I was going through my RSS feed and saw this.

Fast forward to 2:40

I guess I'm late to the party on this. But wow. Almost identical.

Shame we can't actually ask Ledger whether Waits was the inspiration for his Joker. Unless someone has a Ouija board handy...

Link me the direct quote from Heath Ledger saying that this was his inspiration.

You won't be able to do it because it's not true.

sorry man this is one of those internet rumors that has no factual basis. great interview though.

You're correct. I'd add ''may'' to the thread title, but its too late. A mod/admin will have to do it.

Unfortunately, we'll never know since Heath passed away.

He seems completely hammered in that interview, and not just exhibiting the typical Waits-ian charm. I can never tell if that was just part of the act or not.

I was watching through some interviews about Heath Ledger's Joker and saw this.

I can't imagine how pissed Gyllenhall must have been at the moment. The guy literally had nothing to ask and only mentioned Ledger to try to get a reaction. And everyone of course immediately got super fucking uncomfortable.

Some people just have no tact.

This.

Heath Ledger's joker is good, but very very overrated. I wonder how it would have been viewed if he didn't die so close to release.

It's something that I've only noticed happen in discussion of the Joker.

It's not so much the voice actor, but the overall depiction in my opinion. Mark Hamills voice just so happens to be a huge factor.

Really what people are arguing is TAS Joker vs TDK Joker
