Can't wait to hear how he speaks. Lincoln supposedly had a high, shrill voice.

Looks good. Does anyone know if this movie will depict Lincoln's more "nuanced" stance on slavery, or will it be Lincoln, "Champion of the Negro Cause".

Who would pick Liam Neeson over DDL for any role?

his name is Jacob and he matters.

The Lincoln portrayed in this book. More of the former.

I'm more interested in the depiction of his personal life.

I want to know if we'll see this Lincoln:

Quote:
Abe--I am now the most miserable man living. If what I feel were equally distributed to the whole human family, there would not be one cheerful face on the earth. Whether I shall ever be better I can not tell; I awfully forebode I shall not. To remain as I am is impossible; I must die or be better, it appears to me.

I don't get the 80 reference. Maybe Australian ovens are just really slow at cooking.

Steven Spielberg is the king of mediocre Oscar-Bait movies now, so I have little hope for this, other than DDL.

One of the best possible casting choices mixed with one of my least favorite directors.

Not sure if want.

Exactly my thoughts. I think he was perfectly cast. It is rare to say that before I`ve seen the film, but I trust DDL. However, yes, Spielberg being in the project does make me doubt a lot. Specially after I watched War horse. God was that terrible.

Man.....

Just give him the Oscar....

I will set my expectations to low.... but it would be really hard for Spielberg and the script to screw up DDLs acting.

I'm so tired of hearing 'Oscar Bait'. What isn't Oscar Bait? And who gives a shit about the Oscars. Just enjoy the movie, that is all that matters.

Steven Spielberg, the director of this movie?

Google it, it was his role for years and dropped out because he thought he looked too old. DDL was a replacement.

Basterds and District 9 were better movies than The Hurt Locker, but the next runner-up was Avatar so I really can't be upset over Hurt Locker winning over that shit.

If it ends up being a good film, who the hell cares what sort of bait you presume it is or isn't? All that matters is the film - not the hype. If oscar baiting is such a big issue, then just avoid or ignore the hype and judge the film on its own merits when it comes out.

I like Sally Field as a very particular type of character. But I agree that she seems wrong for this. She has never played someone that I could believe existed before 1960, and well we have a few more years down on the timeline with this one.

Eh it seems like she was born to play women in this time period. She just has that face.
