Exactly my thoughts. I think he was perfectly cast. It is rare to say that before I`ve seen the film, but I trust DDL. However, yes, Spielberg being in the project does make me doubt a lot. Specially after I watched War horse. God was that terrible.

Steven Spielberg, the director of this movie?
Google it, it was his role for years and dropped out because he thought he looked too old. DDL was a replacement.

If it ends up being a good film, who the hell cares what sort of bait you presume it is or isn't? All that matters is the film - not the hype. If oscar baiting is such a big issue, then just avoid or ignore the hype and judge the film on its own merits when it comes out.

I like Sally Field as a very particular type of character. But I agree that she seems wrong for this. She has never played someone that I could believe existed before 1960, and well we have a few more years down on the timeline with this one.
