The whole point of mobile phone gaming is that it's easy to play the games anywhere out the house.
This is taking the entire reason why it's successful and acting like it needs to compete with Vita and 3DS, which everybody says are failing because of mobile gaming. What's the point? |

The device is pretty neat, but this really won't actually change anything.
Most people who play iOS games are perfectly happy with how they are, and people who don't simply don't like most of the games for whatever reason. It would probably carve a decent niche though. |

![]() Cost me $100 and it reads my existing games and supports adapters based on other consoles. This means I can back up my collection as ROMs. It is called the Retrode. It is no different from ripping CDs into a digital format. Heck with an USB OTG adapter, Android emulators can load the ROM file from the cart. There are even modded NES systems that are read over USB. |

Who says you have to carry it with you? It's not like you have to fuse the dualshock to your phone. It's something that you would probably only use when playing mobile games at home.

Why would I want to add a controller to my phone? It's not portable so if I have to use a controller I might as well play on a console/real handheld, I see no point in playing phone games with a controller at home. All this does is prove that touch screen-only controls are crap.

It's cool and all and probably the best way to do this with a sixaxis, but I just can't see myself carrying around a dual shock with my phone. If snapping in the phone is quick and easy maybe I could play it in bed like I do with my Vita and 3DS. The problem of course is that there are no mobile games I want to play that require a controller. The best games use touch the right way and most of the "real" games are like Shadowgun and Dead Trigger. Why the hell do I want to play those games. I don't want to play full console titles that are even less generic. I always liked the idea of emulators, but I never actually put any honest time into any games. The last time I did was probably 6 years ago. Give me some achievements and I'll play through Mario RPG again. Also where's my Nexus 7 clip?
PS: Sony should've had the Vita run on Android. Possible even make it a tablet of sorts. Now I will run away as people throw fruit at me.

Some people like to play games on their mobile devices, but don't own a dedicated handheld gaming system. Those are two reasons people would play a mobile game at home. And since you don't seem to know the difference, this is not intended for all touch-screen only games, just games with virtual controls.

Android phone only IIRC. You'd have to download an app to pair with your controller.
Only problem with this is that he could've have planned for an adjustable 'klip' to fit any android phone that the user might have or upgraded sometime down the line. |

Wait wait wait. I thought people liked cell phone gaming because they don't have to carry around an extra device? Or that playing a DS/PSP looks stupid or something like that. Isn't brining a controller and a device to hook into your phone more cumbersome than carrying a DS/PSP?
it also doesn't do away with the problem that the game itself has to support it. if 99% of iphone/android gamers are not using these devices will the developers support the 1% who attach a gamepad?
