The Grey. So good.

![]() Here's a movie about Liam just killing shit in the wild, which is awesome in its own right, but then there's also this added layer of deep characters and thoughtful story-telling. I just saw this movie a week ago, so I was a little late, but I was pretty amazed by it. Maybe my favorite Liam film. If you haven't seen it, I would recommend doing so. |

I completely disagree. Good concept, but quite poorly executed in many ways. It is truly a movie of the fray, wading between being an okay film and an absolute atrocity. It's a character study, without any study. The atmosphere and attempted nihilistic attitude set up such a strong metaphorical theme that is torn down piece by piece by the cringe-worthy dialogue, awkward pacing, and cornball emotional outbursts. The wolves not only look terrible, but behave in such an illogical manner that they might as well have been designed by J.J Abrams.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. I really disliked this movie. Thought it was REALLY cheesy. Liam was awesome (as expected) but the other characters were forgettable and cliched, the dialog and action sequences were pretty bad, and they tried to give the wolves this evil personality which really ruined the movie for me. Liam was all that was good in the movie. 1/4 stars

I did too. But apparently I had originally missed the extra 3 seconds after the credits, which I just watched this morning.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6Oeh2BD7UA I was worried to watch it, thinking it would ruin the good vibe I got from the original ending, but it's very subtle. Here is what I got from it: So the wolf is obviously still alive… but dying? He looks dead. I guess what I take away from that is that he did enough damage to the wolf to kill it, but not before he died. But the way he’s laying on the wolf suggests a pretty epic struggle down to the wire. |

Rented this the other day and was surprised how much I liked it. The ending did bother me though only because it was hard to buy that after all that travel and heading towards civilization, Liam's character would just end up just sitting in the middle of a Wolf's den. Then again its a movie about surviving a plane crash in the frozen tundra so maybe Im taking it too seriously.

I could see the criticism against the wolves though - and the personification of them. Half-way through the movie - after the tree sequence - I did kind of hope that the wolves were gone, and that it would be more of a man-vs-nature scenario, which is the aspect I think I liked the most. |

rarelly have I disagreed more with a thread.
I like most movies, even "bad" ones. But this one was so terrible.. if you want to make unrealistic wolves, why not just go the whole way and make them aliens or something. the whole movie had this very serious tone but the wolves behavior was the most unrealistic shit I've ever seen. Ruined the whole thing for me. |

Probably my favorite of the year so far. Its definitely one of those movies that differ from what you expect. We expected an action movie, when we got a brutal drama instead.
I still think one of my favorite bits on it was the poem introduction and eventually how it concludes At first, I just thought it was the cheesy introduction. You know, recite famous lines, etc. Just some wankery a director does. Yet how it played out through the movie. Where it was about the relationship between him and his father, where this was the one really defining moment as a kid. He saw the emotional side of his father. Also, fuck the ending complaints too. It ended perfectly.

Yep. They were simply hoping to find something. The only reason they headed for the trees was to get out of the open.

The journey is a good metaphor for depressed life. I don't think any of them truly believes that they are going to make it out, but they keep moving anyway. The best ending they can really expect is death on their own terms. Like I said, I like the movie conceptually, but that is it.

So anyone find the drowning scene uncomfortable. Some of those shots made it look like he was going to reach the surface. Then boom dead. I was almost a little pissed off he died!

This movie had the most misleading trailer I've ever seen in my life.
I was expecting a bad ass romp with Liam Neeson kicking wolf ass, and I got this shit instead. Normally you could blame this on my lack of intelligence. But the trailer was literally the most misleading fucking thing ever. #STILLMAD |

I loved this movie. I didn't see the fact that his wife was dead, not just separated coming, so that ending hit me hard. I also felt it ended exactly where it needed to.

I liked how they render that one wolf that attacks them at the bonfire (at night in the woods) it looks very much out of a fairytale, something more than an animal, if you will. |
