Sony Having Difficult Time Getting Third Party Support For The PS Vita
#1
http://thesilentchief.com/2012/08/08...r-the-ps-vita/
As we approach the first anniversary of the PS Vita’s Japanese debut, worldwide sales of Sony’s flashy new portable system can be described as slow but steady. Despite an initial offering of what has been described as one of the strongest software lineups for any piece of hardware, Sony is still finding it difficult to attract third party developers to the Vita. “We’re having a more difficult time than we had anticipated in terms of getting support from third-party publishers, but that’s our job,” Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studio President Shuhei Yoshida told PlayStation: The Official Magazine in a recent interview. “We will continue to talk to development communities and publishing partners and tell them why Vita can provide a great experience for the IPs they have and I hope the Assassin’s Creed game will prove that. The exploding popularity of mobile/ social sector has developers anxious to shift focus to that growing market, according to Yoshida. However, he still believes Sony can attract small, independent studios with the Vita and PS Mobile. Coupled with the terrible sales in Japan (The 3DS has sold half on the Vita LTD in the last two weeks) and loss of 3rd party support, is the Vita done? |

Lead by example. You can't expect good dev teams from third parties if Sony themsevles won't put their own AAA teams on making games for the system.
AssCreed is a B team and the developer for COD has not been announced. Look past the names of the games and look at the devs behind the titles. Resistance is a good series but was handed off to a B developer and it sits at A 60% on metacritic.

Aside from Uncharted, AC and CoD are two really big and established franchises so maybe they'll do something. |

Should have bought one the afternoon before their e3 conference. I had full faith in them knocking shit out of the park. It was a shitty night wondering if I had just thrown money away on a dead system after that shit conference.

But I mean the game went the traditional FPS route but the system just isn't suited for that type of play. It just feels sluggish and unresponsive.

Vita is doomed threads are here on weekly basis (and daily/multiple threads per day sometimes) since the 3DS pricecut/MH announcement.

Actually though, I think the bundles are moneyhats. Maybe not out and out giving companies money, but they are essentially guaranteeing X amount of sales by having the bundles.
I mean, we know there is an AC one and a Madden one, and I'm sure there will be a CoD one this holiday. |

Black Ops is as good as vapor ware at this point. No one will even admit to working on it, and the fact that we have box art before screenshots screams shovel ware. Persona is a director's cut. EA Sports games are on everything. Good People Die is on 3DS too. And, Bioshock Vita will never see the light of day. |

I'm a big fan of SONY... I think they are the best gaming company IMO of course, and I truly believe that Vita is a great handle hardware.
But..... IF they couldn't get the Vita to do better in the upcoming months..... IF they couldn't get the right support for it....... IF it started to put their gaming department in danger..... then it's better if they leave the handle market and never ever look back at it, and focus all their powers on the console market because they are MUCH better at it. Of course I hope the Vita picks up somewhere in the future because it's such a shame if it didn't. |
