So it's about this new band The Royal Concept and their uncanny likeness... #1

Their 1st main single is Gimme Twice which released a little earlier this Summer. Now when I 1st heard the song on my Sat Radio I wasn't paying attention to who was playing, and I was like oh shit!

I thought Phoenix was finally done with their follow up to Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, and this was the 1st single. Dude sounded sooo much like Thomas Mars it was uncanny. Then they changed it up a little, and I was like okay is this really Phoenix cause it sounds sort of like The Strokes.

I was even thrown by the name The Royal Concept considering Thomas and crew are from Versailles so I was thinking is this a name change? Some Phoenix alter ego? Maybe a side project? Then I figured out they were a group from Stockholm, Sweden.

I still swear that whenever their stuff comes on it sounds uncannily like Phoenix at 1st. Like it's some long lost Phoenix song that has a couple seconds of the strokes thrown in. That or it was a group that started out as a Phoenix cover band.

Here's their 1st single on YT...

What do you say GAF?!?!?

I swear if you did a blind listen for the general public of say the 1st minute of the single everyone would swear it's a Phoenix song they hadn't heard yet.

Speaking of Phoenix...

Is a follow-up in the works? Or are they on hiatus?

They're supposed to put an album out by the end of this year, possibly around november. Might be called "Pluviose".

If your Phoenix are you flattered or are you pissed that someone seemingly ripped off your sound?

You're scared Royal Concept's label works to make them more popular than you!

Um that is kinda too much of a rip off of the two bands...like shameless.
