Do you feel bad for GAF mods?
#1
I mean, think about it...
They have to -read all/most of the posts made, which would also include the dumb/stupid/racist/sexist/etc ones. -police threads about new games and movies, potentially exposing themselves to spoilers. -participate in discussions |

no, i'd happily do it if they needed the help. Did it for other forums back in the day and it was fine, felt helpful, and that was nice considering it was on communities I cared about.
and they dont HAVE to participate in discussions. There's a ton more mods on GAF than what you think, it's just that they dont show up in threads. |

No. I kinda feel bad for former mod amir0x getting shit on almost everytime someone posts a youtube link though.

No. AFAIK, most mods don't browse different after been modded. They just have the powers to put the ban hammer down.
So the trick is to make some uninteresting topic and have all your ban worthy material in there. Of course the problem with that is if your topic gets the attention of users - getting bumped constantly, it'll inevitably attract the attention of mods, which will see your stupidity and ban you for it anyway. |

No, why would I? Seems like a fun thing to do :p
Anyways, it's not like they have some sort of 'ban quota' or something like that, yeah? My impression is they can just chilling around even after receiving a red name. It's not like they are forced to stay and monitor GAF 24/7 and has a quota to meet or anything like that. |

I remember when they "hired" me along with a crop of other mods. There was this guy, I think his username was kaji.
I used to make fun of the fact that he never did anything. Close threads, ban people, post replies, nothing. I imagine Evilore expects a higher amount of effort from Neogaf's mods. |

Yup.
I also suspect that most bans are down to people in a thread complaining to a mod about a members behavior. Although there are instances where a mod is in a thread from the very beginning, I do believe the majority of mod actions are results of members calling their attention to certain posts. It's gaf dirty little secret. Members snitching on each other to curry favor with the mods or so they can feel good about themselves for a few seconds. |
