While I doubt there's going to be anywhere near as much demand for the WiiU as there was for the original Wii, I don't know why you wouldn't just preorder it as a precaution. Assuming you want the thing, that is.
Which... they really need to convince people of right now. |

I'll probably get one just because I'm dying for some new hardware, and I'm not a handheld guy |

How exactly do you know it's the same as the current generation? How many people actually care about graphics? A lot of people already have a PS3 or a 360. |

While I'm curious about price and release date, there's no way I can buy a Wii U before mid-2013.
The ability to play my Wii stuff on Wii U is a godsend. I have invested a fortune in Wii software and Virtual Console games and I did not want to lose any of that should the Wii die. |

I think they will bundle Nintendoland with the WiiU (in NA at least) for 3 reasons.
1. They want as many people to experience it as possible. 2. Nintendo of America has said that this is the Wii Sports of this generation. 3. It increases the perceived value Reggie has been saying every time they ask him about the price. |

Consoles don't always launch with a pack-in title. I'm not sure if Nintendo will include Nintendo Land, but I won't be surprised if it's not in the box.
Nintendo Land could probably sell millions at full price. I don't see them pricing Wii U below $300, with or without Nintendo Land. |

Come to think of it, I don't think that the GameStop pre-order start for the 3DS was "officially" announced either (it was just spread through places like GAF). Am I remembering right? |

Remember that Nintendo said that they would give out information after the American release of New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) ? The game is release on August 19... therefore a Nintendo Direct on August 21 or 22 (Tuesday or Wednesday) would be quite a nice timing for the Wii U release date and price reveal... C'mon Nintendo!!! Give me dates!!! At least for the Nintendo Direct x33 |

also, i'm in the 300 bones club with nintendoland pack-in, although i do like colonel mustard's idea of a download voucher being included instead. gives them even more of a margin cushion (if only slight), but i could also see them including a form you could mail out to get the game on disc with paying a 'shipping & handling fee' for users who say they don't have internet (or just want a physical disc....).
$249 would be crazy, but in a good way. however i just don't see a pack-in also being included in that price point. |

If to be believed, an NOA rep may have confirmed black Wii U launch color from an e-mail response to a reader of a banned Nintendo website.

If true I wonder how they will go about manufacturing the two. 50/50? It seems at least from this forum and a few others I lurk at that black is really the most wanted one. I wonder if they are doing market research for this and then will maybe manufacture the amounts accordingly. Who knows though, maybe it's just gaming forums where black is the preferred color but if they do some surveys of the more casual crowd maybe white is about the same or possibly even more in demand.
I'd personally get either color if only one was available at the store I'm at, but I'd much rather prefer the black one. |

Yeah, I don't see the big problem with just two launch colors.

My bad.
This website seems to show every home console and/or handheld color (including limited editions) from Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, as well as Neo Geo with pictures. http://www.consolecolors.com/nintendo.html

The question is, do I want Gamestop to screw me over on my pre-order like they did when X360 launched in '05.
I went in and paid for the Pro Xbox 360 system in full in July for the Nov. release. I was number 8 on the list. They call me 2 days before launch to tell me there's a manufacturer shortage and they were only going to get 4 systems in ... for the entire year. I found out later from a friend that worked there that they actually got 12 systems in on launch day but the manager, several employees, and their buddies hoarded all of them to sell on eBay because they knew ahead of time about the shortage. |
