Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon R Fan Translation

Just a little sideproject.

Don't know if there's any interest in this game, but I'm running a livestream of the beta version so we can find bugs. It's a bit janky, but the game definitely has charms.

The translation seems pretty iffy. Also, there are often missing words between text boxes.
No, it's not good. The only good Sailor Moon game I've ever played is Sailor Moon: Another Story for SFC, and it's not even super amazing either (though I certainly have a nostalgic soft spot for it). |

A good fine-tooth comb editing from an obsessee like myself should do the trick. The platforming sections are fun, I think. The stuff in between, not so much. |

Pretty cool, I remember trying this game out when I first got into emulation in '96.
Not sure how I feel about keeping all the honorifics and such... but that's just my personal stylific feelings. (edit) rereading some of those shots... only some have the honorifics, and the others seem to be using very literal translations, also a stylistic choice that seems odd to me, but I'm sure with a few passes of editing it'll all smooth out. Looking forward to it. |

I'm usually against honorifics in translations, but for Sailor Moon I'll make an exception, due to stuff like Usa-ko and Mamo-chan being so iconic.
There's some conflict over how Demand and Saffir should be translated, but I'm partial to the literal usage, as opposed to 'Diamond' and 'Sapphire'. |

Honestly first I've heard of it. It's always been subbed as either 'Demand/Demando'/Diamond or 'Saffir'/Sapphire. I think the official ADV subs had them as Diamond and Sapphire.
I think Esmeraude looks way cooler than Emerald. |

They also saw releases of a sidescrolling beat 'em up for the Sega Megadrive, and at least two, I believe, for the SNES. The SNES also saw two or three puzzle games, as well as an RPG.

Might have to track them down.. I've been buying up a lot of SuperFami carts recently.

Why is "and fresh?" a question? Also, why is it in parentheses?
Whatever. Hope they get this done. Doesn't really affect me as I have no intention of going to what I assume would be uncharted corners of the world to get this game, but it would be good for those who have it. Why now, though? |

Short answer: It's a literal translation put straight into the game. It has not been edited yet. I have the script, and editing is underway. I'm kind of a diehard fan, so expect legitimacy.

What kind of game is this, again? You said there were platforming sections?

The best highlight of the game is being able to play the same Sailor V game that Usagi plays in the arcade. |
