If you're a pot monster, you're not going to win the money anyways, so play what you like.
90% of the FGC are pot monsters (including myself)- play a smaller game, you might just win a local (the few times I've ever won a tourney were side games) |

Yeah. Also I'm seeing more people TALKING about games than PLAYING the games. And I'm not talking about people that don't have time/have 2 jobs/take care if their family/whatever, I'm talking about young people with all the time in their hands doing nothing or rather trolling forums telling people that "their game" is better and NOT playing it.
And on this subgroup I mentioned, it's silly how now some people are "fans" of "OG games" that they haven't even played, like CvS2, VS, JoJo. Hell, I tried to reason with some kid that was all about "whoa jojo is soooo great true skill there" and later said that he didn't even play the games(not even ONCE), read the manga nor watch the anime. Same kid was also a "huge" VS fan("oh so much skill") but really didn't know a thing about the game, just looked at some top tier lists and a couple of youtube vids. Smh at FGC hipsters. As much as I love old games(hell, the "dark ages" were not dark at all for me) there's no way they are making a big comeback. I can hardly see lots of new people picking up old JoJo, VS or GG(and starting up with a huge knowledge disadvantage against people that actually played them) when there's lots of new games being released where they can write their own story(while learning the game at everyone else's pace) just by, you know, playing the damn games. /rant

It's kinda funny we had one station for sfxt, but nobody signed up for it last week.
We aren't committing anything since its the off season so it might get moved to trb for one week or stay at wnf. Once the official season starts up we'll pick a home for p4a. Keep in mind we have one more big game that's coming out soon Tekken Tag Tournament 2. |

Who is Johnny Rage?
lol at FGC hipsters. I feel ya bro. I like what's not popular, step off me homie! But for real. I think deep down we all play what we think is fun? We don't have enough time to be chasing around what the "pros" like. I don't like BB. If everybody and their mother played it, I still wouldn't play it. It's a fine game, but I don't find it fun. Money is in the other PC genres anyways. I've said this before, but maybe, just maybe, people like playing the Capcom fighting games and have fun doing it!!!! Good lord. It's like some people don't/won't/can't accept that and it gets in their craw or something. I don't get it. Players in Japan and America like different games. SHOCKING. Let me guess, we like different music, movies and food as well. Why don't you scumbag hipsters plays SC5. #kappa :) I love everybody!!!

I can't say the same goes for everybody. But I really don't honestly believe that that many people are sheep. |

no its not. people are going to play what they think is fun. just because somebody claims to be a fighting game fan doesn't mean they have to play every fighting game under the sun. i like boxing and mma but i'm not gonna watch every event just because i like those sports.

They're a real thing! In my local scene there were a few people who would always trash talk SF4, talking about how none of that shit would fly in ST, but these dudes were barely around during the brief HDR days let alone being actual ST players at any point. VF seems to be the new hipster game to pretend to care about because its basically impervious to criticism. Just mentioning that you've played VF will get you the bitches.

Kappa The most important thing that the community events do? Sell. They get the people watching to buy the games. To buy the joysticks. To watch the ads. That money (especially the sales money) helps make new games, support more events, and grow the community. It's not a bad thing. I'm going to end up picking up Persona (not till paycheck after next though- stupid car problems) because of the coverage the games gotten - it looks fun to play on a casual level. The problem is that the revenue streams for FGs are limited compared to say, M:TG, and thus much more of the support has to come from the bottom up rather than from the top down.

I was actually agreeing with the sentiment. I have seen these people first hand. My favorite is when people declare ST as a true honest man fighting game and I have to ask if they have even played the game at decent level.
The MvC2 hipsters are also hilarious. I am sure 10 years from now Sf4 and MvC3 would be adored by hipsters of the next generation.

It's hard to be a fan of books if you only read one thing. Variety is good. The scene has too much variety for an overwhelming number of people to be stuck on a single game 24/7. Those scrub hipsters should also man up and play those games if they think they are so godlike and want a sequel. Quite a few people here who "love" Darkstalkers, but probably never touched the series outside Mahvel character select.
Not directed at you.

Like, I bought BB and Skullgirls and all fighting games really on day 1. I played them, went through all the characters. They just didn't vibe with me for one reason or the other and I just didn't have fun playing them. They are fine games, but not fun to me. Why keep playing what isn't fun? Playing Persona right now. Don't know if I feel about it yet. It doesn't put the twinkle in my eye, heh. Waiting to see how TTT2 makes me feel. I stick with SC5, AE, 3S, and some Marvel on the side. Ultimatly, I have more fun with SC5 and 3S/AE nowadays. SamSho2 is dead whenever I go on there, so I just play that SP. I think SF4/Marvel is like the uber popular band now. Everybody hates because they are popular. I don't begrudge people becasue they don't like SC5. For some reason they don't like it, and that's just the way it is. My buddy doesn't like SC5 (we played SC1-3 alot). He didn't like the parry changes. He just goes o well, I'll play something else or wait for the next one. O yea, I think CVS2 is boring as hell and alpha 3 shits all over it. Get at me people! ;) |

Uh....I don't even know what's going on in these threads anymore.
Anyways, looking forward to Persona 4 at Big 2 and WNF this week. EDIT: Also looking forward to Marvel at Big 2! Last Week out of all weeks was one of the weeks Chris G didn't win and not because he trolled up Grand Finals! Good shit to Moons! Also, don't forget Revelations this weekend! Should be a stacked West Coast tourney for all games...I think. Noel Brown and Flash Metroid are the only out of towners that I know of that are going, is there anyone else?

I thought I'd want to use it like that when playing on stick, but it turned out that because I learned it on Dreamcast, I had just been using a "claw" on the pad (and ignoring one assist button) and so it was way easier to transition to the other layout.

I updated OP to include changes to Salty Battles this week and added this week's GAF P4:A tourney.
That's insane, the default layout is so good already, it'd be like handicapping yourself severely. I know Remix originally was using the MvC2 layout, don't know if he still does. |

No it's not. How the fuck can you define "fun" for someone else? You can only tell others what you think is "fun" you can't tell me what game would be "fun" for me. It's fucking ignorant and it's fucking stupid. People have the right to play whatever the fuck they want. If you want to be butt hurt because your community is niche don't blame them for not liking your game. It's their mother fucking choice. Not everyone has the same ass opinion as your small minded brain.
Stupid mother fucker is stupid.
