Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time will be releasing in February 2013 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. With a robust and diverse catalog of first and third party content launching this holiday season– including Wonderbook: Book of Spells, PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale, Little Big Planet Karting, Assassins Creed III, Assassin’s Creed III Liberation, Madden 13 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified – we have decided to release Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time in February 2013 to ensure gamers continue to have a variety of content to enjoy after the holidays and into the New Year.

It wasn’t mentioned during the conference proper, but the new Gamescom trailer for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time ends with a new “early 2013″ release date for the game. It was previously expected later this year. The trailer is not yet available elsewhere, but was shown following the conference on Sony’s official stream. Expect it to appear with a confirmation of the delay in a PlayStation Blog post sometime this week. For what it’s worth, the game’s official website still mentions it as a 2012 title. Thieves in Time is in development at Sanzaru Games for PS3 and Vita, with Sony confirming in their presser that buying one version will net you the other for free as part of the new Cross Buy initiative.

This is one of the worst things that could possibly happen to it. It is a perfect game for a holiday gift and, at this point, holiday season 2012 is orders of magnitude less crowded than early 2013. Early 2013 is about the most crowed period I've ever seen this generation, while holiday 2012 is about the least crowded holiday I've honestly ever seen.

I understand that game development is hard and some deadlines are just not possible to keep, but the developers did themselves a big disservice if they weren't going to be ready for a 2012 release.

Same for me and a big surprise since i was sure this was going to be a 2012 title. The last half of 2012 is starting to look very uninteresting (just like the first half basically). And delaying the game into a busy 2013 doesn't seem like a good idea at all for this type of game.

Luckily, there are some smaller psn games i'm really looking forward to (suc as Pid, The last swan and Sine Mora) later in the year.
